Wait! So I shouldn't put my pressure washer into my fuel tank to clean the gas?

To clean the tank, yes. To clean the fuel? No.

Unless you are buying gas at a station out in the sticks, it has not been "sitting" very long. Buy "Top Tier" fuel...it has additives that will protect against moisture and other common contaminants, as well as help prevent carbon buildup. Chevron, Mobil, Shell, Arco, and Costco all have "top tier" designations.

All Top Tier fuel guarantees is that additives will be the same at all octane levels. There are a lot of gas companies, but most if not all will put quality additives in their highest octane gas.
For those who have cars which sit idle for prolonged periods of time, it wouldn't hurt to add STA-BIL which will keep the fuel fresh for many months. I use it all my gas powered tools and tractors. I started using it about 15 years ago and haven't had a problem since. Prior to that, thanks to the government's ethanol mandate, I must have sent a few hundred dollars replacing my gas powered tools. .

Chevron Techron to keep the system clean few times a summer (even running top tier fuels), Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner to help keep the top end lubed when the car may sitting for a month when being driven in the summer, and Sta-Bil 360 when the car is stored for the winter since the fuel we have locally is up to 10% ethanol (that can go south in a mater of a few months as the car is sitting in storage with the tanks full).

I’ve used Lucas with great results. But it’s one of those things if it’s not bad then it won’t do much. Years ago I wasn’t really a believer but had a used car that it made a drastic difference in the way the car ran as well as the MPG. I think every 3k is likely overkill but I’ll normally run it every year or so.

Twice a year I would add a bottle of Techron to the tank before one of my monthly trips to Arizona. Did it help? Who knows but I never had fuel issues including fuel sending issues of any kind.

Also ALWAYS used top tier gas.

I used to use Costco gas, but my mechanics said it wasn’t the best. They recommended QT, or chevron, shell, Texaco gas. Costco always has long lines in my area, whereas QT never has a line and is usually only a few cents more.

Default Top Tier Gas

I'm surprised that no mentioned using either Bp or Mobil gasoline, 93 octane. That's mostly what I've used since 1966 on all of my cars and NEVER, NEVER once had any fuel issues.
Any thoughts either way on these 2 gasolines? If I have to get gas on occasion and the 2 above are not available, which is hardly ever, I will use either Shell or Chevron.

I used to go to the dealership for my oil changes. They would add a bottle of Techron to the gas tank. I think they just did that to make it appear that they were doing a lot of extra things when they changed the oil. I have been using Chevron Supreme since I bought the car and haven't had any problems related to dirty injectors.

I have read mixed reviews on Seafoam, but have never tried it.
