Service tire sensor on the DIC
Where is the best place to replace the tire sensors and what should they cost? I have seen prices all over the place. Just got that message on the DIC yesterday. Now I don't know if this had anything to do with it but this just happened shortly after I hit a pot hole in the road. Not a bad one per-say, but just enough to get my attention. Could this have caused it? This is on a '06 Z51 3LT

You should be able to get a set of 4 OEM TPMS on eBay for about $70-80. Most other retailers will prices them at anywhere from $34-$70 each.

I have an 06 and went with the Schrader 20076. Rock auto has them for less than a $100 delivered. Had them now for a
couple of months and no issues.

Ditto that: Just bought a set from Rock Auto, Schrader 20076 for $20 each. They are the recommended one, by the way. No need to spend more. If yours are the originals they're actually over due for replacement! Discount Tire charged me $20 per tire to install and re-balance the tires. Only issue I had was they couldn't get the car to go into re-program and I had to stop by a dealer to get them programmed. They told me it happens once in awhile but they are usually able to program them.

What's the benefit of replacing it vs just replacing the battery?
EDIT: Never mind, the batteries are non replaceable, that's why.

Melting Slicks
You can find youtube videos of diehard penny pinchers digging out their batteries and replacing them. Might have made sense a decade ago when they were more expensive but I bet the long term success rate wasn't very good. Not something I would even consider.

Ended up going to Discount tire and had them replaced mounted balanced for about 200 bones. was in and out in about a half hour. added up it was the best and cheapest option rather than buying them for an out side source and hoping when I go to a tire store they would be the correct one's plus the mounting and balancing was free. thanks for all the advice. :-)
