Default Non Run Flat Tire Recommendation for my 2006 Base C6 Coupe

Looking for recommendations for Non Run Flat tires people are using for my Base 2006 Coupe. Purchased new wheels and not sure if I want to take my Run Flats off my factory Polished Aluminum 5 spokes and remount them. Want to see what is available out there that others have used. The car is only used for cruising around nothing else in good weather. Kept indoors and rarely used much.

Falken Azenis FK510 tires would be perfect for your type of driving. I put a set on my 08 vert a few months ago and I love them. Really good price on them too. They received top reviews from both Tirerack.com and Discounttire.com.

I had a new set of General G-Max RS Ultra High Performance Summer tires installed on my 2006 Convertible 7 weeks ago on June 5 and have put just over1,600 miles. I am really very happy with them. They have excellent dry and wet traction. The steering is very responsive, road feel is improved and the car feels all around well planted. They have great reviews on Tire Rack and in this Hot Rod article: https://www.hotrod.com/articles/gene...ires-are-made/ These tires are much quieter than the run flats that I replaced.
I have also had good experience with BF Goodrich, Nitto, Michelin and Kumho non run flat tires.

Are you going to sell the tires and wheels? How much life is left in the existing tires? If you plan to keep the wheels and the tires are good why not remount them and wear them out? It is cheaper by far to use what you have. I know that is not what you asked but thought I would share my thoughts.

If your Corvette is "only used for cruising around nothing else in good weather. Kept indoors and rarely used much" then why not use your current tires until they wear out? If you are "rarely using" your car and only driving it hundreds of miles per year then why waste your money?

I went with Firestone Indy 500's. Don't track my car, just cruise. Third summer, no issues.

Trust me that thought has been in the back of my mind to do also. The Run Flats have less then 15K miles on them. Just checking what Non Run Flats are good to use. Thinking here that I need to break down the 4 Run Flats anyway to take the Speed Sensors out to transfer to the other wheels anyway so maybe the way to go is to go all the way and transfer the Run Flats also to the new wheels. Still didn't make a decision as of yet but thanks for your opinion. Those Run Flats are a bear to work with on some tire machines. Although I own a Rim Clamp Tire Machine that I have in my Pole Barn that I use on all my tires being I own quite a few Vehicles it really isn't made to do Run Flats. I will never forget wanting to change the Run Flats from my C5 Coupe to transfer to new wheels from the factory Aluminum wheels on the car. My tire machine was having a hard time being it only has the one arm that comes down like many Rim Clamp machines had years ago. I ended up scratching the wheel up pretty bad but got the Run Flat tire off the rim. Didn't want to take the chance trying to mount them to the new wheels or dismount the other 3 with the problem I had with the first one so I took it down to the Goodyear tire dealer and paid them to transfer them over to the new wheels. I would have to do the same again with the C6 if I decide to keep the Run Flats. .

Jeff I just took a look at these Firestone Indy 500 tires online see below. It shows it is a 97W tire and from what I have been finding the C6 Base requires at least a 97Y tire or better. I believe the 97W is rated for 168 miles per hour and the 97Y 186 mph. I will never drive in that range but thought I would mention and show what I read below.

I’m happy with Hankook tires. Put them on after I bought new Forgeline wheels. They cost me under a grand for 4 so they’re probably cheaper for your car being a base model with a smaller tire.
