You should check the museum as well. They use to have the actual build sheets, not copies, back in the early days. They may have a 2005 still on file. I got my original sheet back 2007 when my ‘08 was born.
Not sure where to get one for free but I just ordered one online for my 2008 from the National Corvette Museum. They have a menu of many things available.
$50 for build sheet plus I added another $5 for it to be laminated. Shipping was another $12.
Send an email to socialmedia@gm.com with your VIN and name requesting a build sheet and they will send you one in PDF format for free.
IceAxe, thanks to your help a few months ago, I was able to get my build sheet from the GM site (above) you provided. They were super fast and extremely nice about providing the information. Two thumbs up for GM social media. I suggest you use the link above before paying.
The build sheet is easy and free. When I picked up my 2010 GS, after test driving it and agreeing on a price, the Maroney sticker had gone missing I was naturally po'd. The salesman was running around looking for it but no luck. He said it was probably tossed when the car was prepped for delivery. He got me the build sheet right but I really wanted the Maroney sticker. I kicked myself for not securing it when I decided to purchase it.

You can get a Monroney sticker (window sticker) for your car for $8 from the link below:
Hi:
To get a build sheet , a vehicle history and warranty history just go to your local friendly GM dealer and ask the service writer for a VIS report. All you have to supply is the VIN at the lower part of the windshield to the service writer. This has all the codes on your SPID decal in the glove box , all the codes on the options and equipment on the car and any service and warranty work on the car done my a GM dealer.
This report is FREE to you and is needed by the dealer to do any kind of work on the car because the report tells the dealer what the car came with from the factory so they can order the correct parts if necessary.
DO NOT let the dealer tell you they cannot give you this report , they are supposed to.
Hope this helps
Ed
FWIW to anyone following this thread, I emailed socialmedia@gm.com earlier today, received a build sheet on my 2019 C7 within 3 hours, and that was on a Sunday, so that is one way that does work.
