Default Replacing TPMS with fresh ones ?

I'm in the process of lining up new tires and while I'm at it, I want to replace the TPMS units, but I notice in my search that you really don't know if your getting a fresh set, or some that might very well be 2-3-4 years old. How do you determine what a fresh set is or not ?

Thank you,

I just get mine from Discount Tire when I get new tires installed. Theirs work, they're warrantied for 7 years, and I don't have to worry about it. I just change them out every time I change tires so I'm always within the warranty period.

You posted something similar in another thread you started, Numerous folks, myself included recommended the Schrader 20076 from Rock Auto. They don't sell new old stock so they would be fresh. If you want OEM contact Bob at HOUSEOFWHEELS forum vendor as he sells them for like $160.

Thank you,
I replaced the original ones in our 2007 in 2017 when they were 10 years old and one of them started to fail. My thought at the time was to source them from a fairly high volume distributor and I tried the online source TPMS.com for a set of the OEM factory installed Schrader 20076. I was pleased to find out that the sensors that I bought were less than 1 year from the date of manufacture. If I recall correctly they were about $43 each with free shipping.

In addition to the above replies, note that battery drain is very slow for a sensor that's just sitting on a shelf.

I just use generic ones
off Amazon for $60 off Amazon for $60
for the set of 4. I test them before having the tire shop install. So far I've used 3 (1 on the wife's ELR, and 2 for one pair of rear wheels on my ZR1), and they have all been trouble free. At that price point, I plan on just changing them every 5 years or so and not worrying about it.

ACDelco and Schrader should have the manufacturing dates cast on the body of the sensors. I posted some pics here https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ring-date.html

I'd rather ask questions, (I'm full of questions) before I make a mistake on my own, which I'm good at anymore.

Thank you for your help.

I used the new Schrader ones in mine not too long ago. Preprogrammed and were cheaper directly from Schrader than any other source I could find. C6 part number is the same as the Cadillac part number.

I'm starting to wean myself off Chinese parts. Their always cheap, but don't last very long and your back at square one all over again !

I hear you, but it's just so easy to order them off Amazon. Besides, I'd bet that all the sensors you'd buy at tire stores (i.e. Discount, etc) are probably made in China too.

Well this isn't P&R, but sooner or later China is going to try to strangle us with their stuff. but I agree with you 100%, Amazon isn't the only ones who buy the cheapest parts for whatever your fixing. And it's very tempting when it will come right to your door in 48 hours.

Sooner or later? Try? The ship's already sailed on those.
