Default NPP Solenoid replacement

Hello
I am replacing the NPP solenoid in my 13 GS and need some help. I have read thru several u tube videos so I have a pretty good idea what to do except:
I have the passenger tail lights out and see the solenoid location:
there is a cover over it with a odd looking sheet metal nut on a stud holding one side of the flexible cover down. I tried tried several sockets on this nut holding the cover down but nothing I tried seems to fit: how do I get the nut off the cover stud? I want a professional no boogered it up job… lol
thanks Ron

Default

The plate retainer nut should just screw off by hand, but may need to use a set of pliers to back it off if someone loctite the nut on.

Once the cover and it retainer nut are off, then standard deep well socket to remove that nut.

Default Thanks Dano

Thanks for taking the time to walk me thru the solenoid change. The info and photos were exactly what I needed. I changed the solenoid out and now the NPP is back on line.
I owe you one … thanks again
