My 09 base is showing dreaded “check coolant level” ! I did and all seems ok. Temp going from 220 to 185 degrees??? Ran in driveway with cap off for 2 minutes then ran to 2500 rpm for 4 minutes, replaced cap and checked level of overflow tank when cool. Level showing full.
Is there air in my system or is it my thermostat???
I get the 'check coolant level' a few times, it went off by itself.
I don't know why it goes on; the coolant level is always to the top.
As far as I know, there is no sensor on the coolant surge tank to indicate the level of coolant.
You're right, there is no coolant level sensor. ECT means Engine Coolant Temperature.
Look in the shop manual for an answer to why the "check coolant level" msg comes on.
