Any suggestions on replacing that ugly automatic shifter.

I think the C5s (and similar C6s) automatic shifter looks pretty good actually, it's short with a nice leather grip and leather boot, very racey and quite close to the look of a manual.

The 911's shifter or shift **** looks like it belong in a high end car.
The one in the C6 looks like it belongs in a Vega, Pinto or Yugo.

Also, did anyone notice that the automatic shifter when in park it is very close to the console buttons, somewhat blocking them?

I agree with you. The **** will be the first mod for me. I have been looking around and it seems that Ecklers has a **** for the C5 called the chameleon that you can buy different colored rings for the ****. Also I saw a conversion kit with Mid America called the auto shift **** adapter that allows you to use any standard shift ****.

It's an automatic. That's enough said. Sports cars were meant to have manuals. The shift **** on my Town Car may be ugly but who cares, The Town Car is an appliance for getting from point A to point B. If you've got an automatic, why do you want your shifter to look like a manual?

I really like the shifter on the Mclaren-Mercedes. You lift of a small cover on top of the shifter and there is the start button! Its really cool.
I think the one on the C6 would be fine without the silver/chrome (or whatever) button on it. It jumps out too much. In pictures I think it looks cheap. Perhaps it looks different in real life.

I have to agree to a point. The stock autoshifter looks blocky, and lacks a refined look. I'd say it is the only real sore point. Luckily, it is a 5 minute swap so no worries.
