Saw Precision Red today next to a Torch Red '04. They were in the shade then moved into the sunlight. PR isn't as bad as I thought, but it is too dark for me. In the shade it looks just like Mag Red, but when you get it in sunlight it flattens out. Even after being detailed it just lacks some life. Torch Red was to orangy for me. They parked the PR next to a Victory Red truck in the showroom and VR looks awsome. I am glad I changed my order early on in the process - even though I may have to wait another three months now. Don't get me wrong, if PR was the only red available - I would have gone with it. Just my personal opinion.
At Carlisle, I Asked Kirk Bennion (lead Exterior Designer Of The C-6) About Precision Red's Return. He Was Very Pointed In His Answer That "it Ain't Never Coming Back". He Said Those Lucky Enough To Get It Will Have Themselves A Very Limited Car, Especially If Victory Red Has A 5-7 Year Run With Approx 5-8k Cars/year = 25-56k Total!!!! As To "cobalt Red", Its The Name Of The Color As It Comes From The Manufacturer, Dupont. You Know, I've Seen Pred Up Close In New York In February, And It Was Just Stunning!!!. I Could Never Understand The Controversy With Torch Red. C-6 Needed Its Own Colors. Torch Red And Victory Red Are Great Colors Also, But Need A Rest. The Digital Pictures Of Pred Have Been Varied And Confusing, But You Know What, When You See It In Person You Will Understand Why. Different Lighting Conditions Make This Color Go From Very Bright With A Slight Orange Cast (not As Much As Tr) To Almost Dark Blood Red. I Know, I Got One!
it's got to be tough capitalizing the first letter of every word... how did you get into that habit?
From: Frankenstein never scared me. Marsupials do, because they're fassst…and they DART, THAT'S crazy!

How does that fit into the color puzzle
The name of the car in that commercial is the Chevy "Cobalt" (rice grinder). And the voice over is something like the new Cobalt just trying to find its place in the family.
About PR, I do believe they discontinued it because it will probably fade very quickly; it's such a dark flat color I assume that is the reason. The Victory Red should be very attractive on the Vette being so bright. Besides, they already have a dark red with the Mag Red. No need for another one.
V red is to bright for me . I saw it on a ssr and it makes the car look cheap. PR is really a good color in shade and light, but it's only a color. It could be **** brown and still be a great car. I say enjoy the car in any color.

I have been examining every red car since I ordered the C6. Now that I have the PR I am so happy. Be advised I liked Torch Red on the C5. Having lived with PR for a few days, I am sold. Believe me I am very critical of my own decisions. That being said of the 3 colors in question and given a choice, I would choose PR. I am not saying it looks best in all lights, because it doesn't. But in a majority if different lights It is a stunner. Each and every person who has seen the car, comments on the color and so far they have loved it, and the way it is different from every angle. What people don't understand is it takes on its surroundings and reflects back that color.
It is a marketing ploy. They will probably bring it back because they know there is a demand for it but this time it will be considered a premium color so that they can charge you $750.00 plus more.
I re-read Hib's interview especially the part about Precision Red, They discontinued it because of the complaints about the loss of Torch Red, not complaints about PR. So they compromised and chose Victory Red. Torch red made the C6 look flat, not color wise, shape wise. PR brought out the shape.
