Just need to accept the fact that C6 tires wont last long and will be expensive to replace. Just accept it as the price of admission. What ever the cost is worth it, considering the outstanding ride and handling; with the standard suspension (which I have) - don't know about the optional suspensions. When replacing, I will get the exact same tires. Have had bad experieinces in the past replacing tires with different tires, hoping to get more mileage or wanting a better cost. IMO, if you love the way your new car drives don't risk screwing it up by using different tires.

Lots of factors play in this game, air temp, speed, road surface, fast cornering, hard breaking. Drive that C6 Z51 from coast to coast on Interstates only and you’ll get 65K at least. I have 6,400 with little signs of wear. Only lit up the tires twice. Think I’m looking at 25-30,000 min.

Enough of you jumped on the rotation thing. Just think what the C6 would look like if you did. What did they call that in the 50’s a Rake or Shackle?

I was talking to my Porsche/Audi salesman today and he agreed that 15,000 to 19,000 miles on Michelin Pilot Sports and all season Pilot Sports was good. He said some Porsches go through tires at 5,000 miles.

The tires on my M3 lasted 15,000 miles and ran about $1,000. My S4 all seasons got 19,000 miles for about the same $1,000. If I can get 30,000 miles or more on my F55 coupe I will be one happy camper.

Tire Rack has the 18" fronts at $345 each and the 19" rears at $417 each.

I was just thinking: base and F55 cars can do a rotate side to side (for whatever good it might do) by dismounting and remounting the tire on the other side. They're unidirectional and have to turn the same way.

The can't rotate front to rear obviously because of the difference in tire and wheel sizes.

The Z51 cars tires have "asymmetrical tread design" which means there is a specific tire for each corner of the car. No side to side rotating even.

I guess they figure that rotation isn't necessary given the short life of the tires to begin with?

Have 6,400 mi on my Z51 C6. Measured tire depth yesterday after reading this thread. Depth on all was 8-32ths. Assuming 9-32s to start, and replacement at 3-32s, I’ll have to replace at 32,000 mi. Factors – lots of interstate mi. 400mi weekly. Most of the time I drive like an old fud but occasionally get on it hard.

The treadwear rating has very little, if any, to do with ride quality. The treadwear rating is an indication of how soft the tread compound is and how long the tread will last. Ride quality is more of a factor of tire design such as sidewall stiffness.

No, they can't be rotated. The front and rear wheels and tires are not the same size.

You will not get 45k on the tires on the Z51. Maybe 15K on rear and 25k on front.

Just got price quotes from Discount Tire on the SC's (Z51);
Front, $302 ea. including mount and balance.
Rear, $325 ea. " ".
and $48 each tire for Road Hazard if you want it.

Salesman said "these are cheaper than the C5 replacements, must be a mistake in the catalogue".

C-6 Tires absoutely can NOT be rotated. If you did a side so side rotation you would be running the tires backwards. Check your manual.

Why would they be running backwards? I'm saying dismount left tire and mount it on the right rim with what WAS the inside sidewall now facing outwards. Same direction of rotation. The only possible advantage this would give is if you are doing a lot of very hard cornering and/or power sliding then you may have wear on the outside edges of the tire. This would move that worn area to the inside edge and expose the (hopefully) better inside edge on the outside.

Agreed, a side to side without removing the tires from the rims would make the tire run backwards... not good.

With the Z51's asymmetric tread, there is a specific left and right tire. I assume this means you can't even dismount/rotate side to side.

I went through the front tires in 8k miles and found cords showing when extreme loss of traction prompted inspection. The braking is really good though, and I am guilty of using them. The rears (325/30ZR19) are just about gone at 9800 miles. When the new ones come in I'll make sure to see some cords on these before removal...
