WTF? reopen this... switched to esurance and they don't insure corvettes... at all.

but my wife and I have 6 cars, we're in our mid forties, prior to christmas 2011 neither of us had ever been involved in an accident for over 20 years, had not CAUSED an accident in 30, and our freaking rates were $4000+ PER YEAR, with 100/300 or less coverage, and we SHOPPED to get THAT rate.

In 2011 my wife had a claim, had to dodge a cow and totaled a truck, but our rate really did not jump. I had some glass claims, my rate really did not jump. I had some ******* deliberately rear end my truck for no damage or injuries just the other day, but Esurance SETTLED with him, without talking to me, and is now threatening to RAISE my rates even more.

I got a quote from Hagerty for $1500/year for the vette alone, on top of the $4100 and rising in other cars.

I understand some issues with the recent claims, but even before that, with no claims in 30 years, I was paying $4000 plus per year... I can't even believe the low numbers I have seen here. Any advice?

Where you live has a lot to do with the prices. A few folks in this thread seem to have forgotten that.

And although reviving old threads in no longer against forum rules, for one that's this old, it's usually better to start a new one.

Wife and I are paying $1950 a year for a 2011 Equinox and a 2013 C6, with GEICO with no claims in the last 6 years.

Something's wrong here, or we just don't know the full story. I thought Esurance was just a clearing house representing multiple insurance carriers. I believe they are an "Allstate Company" as well which seems kind of like the Fox Guarding the Henhouse.
The Hagerty quote at first blush seems excessive. They specialize in collector cars and maybe you told them you drive 15K miles a year or somehow didn't meet the complete requirements for a collector car. Did you give them an agreed value for the Vette?

I suggest you contact the insurance companies, or the local agents one by one. I've had 4 Porsches and 2 Corvettes and have had no issues getting insurance. I believe full coverage+ on my 07 C6 is about $800 per year through State Farm.

Yeah, who is the carrier because those are ridiculously low prices. The average quote I get (for an August 18 renewal) was around $1,700 for a pleasure use of a 2003 Z06 and my wife's Honda Accord coupe, both accident and ticket free.

American Family. Have my home and one other vehicle insured with them. 487.00 per year with a $1000 deductible.

I'm not going to question it, but I thought I'd ask the forum:

What are you paying a year for insurance with No tickets & no accidents?

Thanks,

I bought a toaster for $49.95. Did I get a good deal? How much did you pay for the last toaster you bought? ..... This question makes as much sense as yours does.

What brand is it? Is it a 2-piece or a 4-piece? Any special setting for defrosting? Does it only do bread, or will it toast bagels? Did you buy it over the internet, or from a brick & mortar store? Was it on sale? Did you buy it in Hong Kong or Des Moines? Did you get a manufacturer's rebate? Tell me, Grasshopper, so I can compare my experience to yours.

Answer the question, "How long is a piece of string?"

If you don't know, quit asking questions about what somebody else pays vs what you pay.

Unless you have the EXACT same information (age, #of cars, model of car, miles driven, business or pleasure use, city and county where the car is garaged, accidents, traffic tickets, credit score, youthful drivers, coverage, limits of liability, deductible, etc., etc., any answer you get is completely meaningless unless you think apples are the same as oranges.

USAA is the best/cheapest insurance offered. They were by far much better when they only offered insurance to military officers (quite a few years ago). Because of there low risk client base, they were incredibly low as far as premiums were concerned. I still believe you need to have some connection to the military to purchase insurance though them (some relation that served in the military).

Can't make comparisons on insurance rates. We are talking apples to oranges. As mentioned above, to many variables. If you live in **** town USA with high crime, your rates will be higher. Your age and driving record and your insurance company as well as if the car is garaged also come into play. Someone in Minot, North Dakota will probably have better rates than someone in Chicago. If that bothers you, move to Minot!

If you have never heard of Minot look it up. Almost in Canada and every bit as cold in the winter.

Better comparison would be my 2010 Camaro V6 versus 2008 Vette.
Vetter lower cost with my agent. 210 every 6 for same coverage as my Camaro at 350 every 6. Storage insurance is $44 every six months for the vette.

Will be spending more on storage in the winter for the Vette than I will for insurance....

Good thing you straightened him out. Last time he was here was over 10 years ago though.
