There was one on the C5. But removing it also resulting in the approach lights not working.

That's what mine do. Interesting that SilverCoupe's stay off. Maybe that happens due to a wiring error at the factory caused by the camera crew passing by.

Not quite correct. They stayed off in the 6-spd PR coupe after I twisted the dash light dimmer switch AND put the light switch in the AUTO position. For some reason, that technique does not work in the auto tranny coupe. I'll be experimenting more the next few days with the Silver auto tranny coupe.

Someone look in the boxes under the hood. There might be a relay that you can pull that turns on the DRL's. That's the way I defeated them in my GTO. Just another option to look for.

Default No disconnecting is necessary

Just use the light switch and find the setting and you can drive without DRL's.

On a six speed car, they go off when you put the parking brake on. Anyone checking to see how they work need to keep this in mind.

I'm going to give up on trying to get the DRLs to turn off permanently with the auto tranny. When I thought the "AUTO" selection on the lighting stalk was preventing the DRLs from coming on, I was just looking at the instrument panel indication. I finally found out there is no DRL indication there: that light is for the parking lamps.

However, the process I posted at the beginning of this thread did work for my manual tranny C6. I looked at the lights like I should have done with the auto.

Learned something again today.

It is much more logical to shut if off (it is called a SWITCH) Did you know it is much easier to use the switch than tampering with SAFETY equipment and risking messing the whole car up blaming the car and the person/owner not taking responsibility for messing the car up (bubba)
Besides I was only offering information and saving you trouble of tearing your car up/messing it up.
This is an alternative so you don't have to shoot the messenger in this case as my intentions mean well.
Many times it isn't the product that is faulty but the IdXXts that modify and mess up the car in conclusion blaming the product giving it a bad name and the company unjustly.

No, I am not paranoid. They really are out to get me.

And yes, with C5's, you could pull a fuse to disable the DRLs. As Scissors mentioned, it would disable some of the approach lights when you remotely unlock your car, but it still lit up your fog lights and rear brake lights.

I got a ticket in our Lexus a while back and I feel the main reason was the DRLs caught the cop's attention at I was coming at him. He saw me before I saw him and got me with instant on radar. I was able to get on the brakes and get from 95 to 72 before the radar got a lock. The cop didn't have DRLs. Since my wife drives the car most of the time I haven't disabled them but having the option of turning them off would be good thing.

There's no problem turning them off. Just one flip of the wrist with the light-control stalk. But they come back on every time you start the car. Some folks would like to turn them off permanently, which is why this thread was started.

LOL, some people are so funny. They are lazy and don't read the thread before they post. I also can't stand the people that HAVE to state their opinion as to WHY we would want to do such a thing as permanently turn off the DRL. We don't care! We just want to know how to turn these damn things off forever!

What does it matter why, the post was how

or to put another way just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they
are NOT after you
