The dealer I buy my Vette's from(only one that would give me GMS in 02 after 9/11)is in a small town in Michigan. They get about 20 vettes a year.My Question.I talked to them about ordering an 06 Vert and being first on their list.He said no problem as they have no 06 deposits yet, including Z's.I was wondering when in respect to the larger dealers would they get their first 06 vette? I assume the 06's will be available july/August(coupes and verts)Is this correct and will my dealer be able to get one in the first weeks of shipments?I have a few very good connections at a very, very large dealer here in WNY(tho not a huge Vette dealer(75-100 a yr) and wondered if it they would be able to get one much faster.I would prefer to stay loyal to the first one tho.
Thanks
Derek

Yeah.....I'm in the same boat.....want to do the same thing! I'm hoping some of the guys who have been through it can give us some good advice. Being "first on the list" is nice, but does it make a difference if the dealer is large or small with regard to getting the care when you want it?
The larger the better! In this day of the internet, the world is at your fingertips. If it is not advantageous, you don't have to deal with the hometown boys! Competition is good. Now if that hometown dealership had a car on the showroom floor, the game may have just changed.
According to my dealer here in FL the more Vettes a dealership sells the better their placement on the allocation list. So if your dealership sells 5-6 Vettes a year they are probably low on the allocation list; if they sell 20-30 a year then they sit higher-their orders and requests get top priority in Bowling Green, KY at the plant. I ordered my C6 on 12/31/04 and was just told they have just received allocation for my car in Feb 05-that is when she will be built-then it sits there in their inventory until they have enough Vettes heading to FL to make up a truck load and then she gets loaded to head south. Maybe delivery to me around late Mar or early Apr. Now I just gotta sell my 1995 purple Vette!

Yeah I talked to a Corvette specialist at Bill Heard Chevrolet in Houston Tx and I asked him about ordering a C6 from a smaller dealer where I live and he told me the wait would be pretty long. He said the Vettes are sent to the bigger dealers first.

Suggestion: Do a search on Bill Heard on this forum. 'nough said.
None of these truly helped me.How much of a diff will it make.I told you their allocations above. If it will be like a month longer I'll go w/ the larger one

The wait can be anywhere from a few weeks to 'forever'. If a dealer sold only a few Corvettes last year, they may have allocation for only one per quarter. So, if they have four folks in line for orders, yours would be beyond their allocation. Talk to the person at the dealership who enters the orders. Ask specifically when they have their next slot and whether it is spoken for. Assuming they have a slot that you can get into, and assuming you don't order items on constraint, then you should be okay.
Unfortunately, only your dealer can tell you what his allocation is at any given time. You have to trust them. (I wouldn't order from a dealer I didn't trust anyway.)
I had this conversation with my dealership. They had a two week wait before my order could be entered, so I decided to go ahead.
