When I first heard the #'s for the Z06, I thought that's weak. This is more like it!

I think there could be a problem here. The long tube headers are going to shorten the exhaust system from the collector point to the muffler. That's going to raise the resonant frequency of the exhaust system. Consequently, the Helmholtz resonator tuning in the muffler will be too low to cancel the new higher frequency resonance point. Result: exhaust resonance.

I have Lou's long tube headers on my c5. I have a h/c car. I am running Z06
Ti exhause and have no resonance at all. It is as quiet as a stocker at cruise speeds. Going up an down hills does not changes the tone to a barely perceptable burble. Now I had an 03 cobra once upon a time. Removed the
cats and put an X-pipe in there and that car was so loud you couldn't hear the
person next to you talking at any speed. The droan was so bad I removed the
X-pipe. So yeah I know what your talking about. But my vette doesn't do it
at all. Even with a decent cam and full headers. I think the Z06 mufflers are the
ticket.

The video is up.

video link www.lgmracing.com/c6zo6.wmv

The proper X pipe seems to nullify the resonance that you speak of.

So far, non at all. We have the headers on two cars and they act just like stock but with about 90 ft pounds more torque at 3000 rpms!

With cats, I doubt that there will be any codes.

Thanks

Yes sir. It takes about 4to 5 hours total for the dyno and installation.

We have headers in stock.

give us a call.

on the 2 you just did you left the factory cats on, correct? (disregard, I reread post )I don't want to have an emission issue when i need to get inspection in 2 years. it appears that 480 rwhp is realistic with headers only....

Wow. That vid of the dyno pull is absolutely bad azz. That 427 opened up sounds awesome....certainly better than a Viper.

Man, I wonder how one of these Z06's is going to run with my Kleemann SLK55.

I know one thing. This new Z06 is the shiznit when it comes to factory backed low cost BANG for the dollar. It looks bad azz to boot. Slick car man, slick car.

What's a "proper" vs. "improper" X-pipe?

The proper X-pipe is the one on the LG Long Tube Header system.

BTW Lou, great Thread! All this makes me want to bring you my Mag Red for a set of AFR 205 Heads, then I'd be around 440rwhp ... on an A4 [3.42] C5 Coupe.
