Default Chirp when shifting the new Z??

When I shift my car quickly I hear a chirp?? What is that?? I think it is the Acceccory belt slipping??? But is it the clutch???

Do you guys hear your belts slip?? It is worse If I short shift it compared to a 7000 rpm shift.

Please help I do not want the dealer to try to figure it out. I want to tell them what it is and how to fix it.

No I not that chirp. I do get some good 1-2nd shifts but it sounds like the belts are slowing from 6500 rpms to 4800 so quick the it slips when the crank pulley changes speed.

It maybe a belt chirp.Maybe some flex in the body?I really don't have a clue.I don't have enough miles to experiment.

My Z06 doesn't do it but my 05 Z51 6-speed had the chirp on high-rpm shifts. I always wondered if it was the belt but never found out for sure. It never got any worse in 11,000 miles.

I've heard this in mine as well on a few occasions, but the belt looks fine, even after a full day of open track work. Wonder how prevalent this issue is going to be.

Yeah im pretty sure its not tire chirp, tires are too soft, they dont seem to make noise. FTR i dont havent noticed any chirp on shifts.

I have it and I believe it's the clutch slipping. Once I missed 3rd and went 2nd - 5th under hard acceleration and same noise. The pressure plate is know to have a weak spring and this is also related to the problem often reported regarding the pedal sticking to the floor.

I have the same problem. It also happened on my 05 z-51. I always knew it as a belt slipping due to torque but I don't know for sure.

Does it change if your A/C or Defrost is on? I've driven several 6.0L that make that little belt chirp, especially if the A/C is on. I really noticed it in a 6 litre SSR auto when it did the 1-2 auto shift the belt would let out a little chirp.

It's just the sudden RPM change and the belt giving out a little complaint. Not to worry. The ones I've noticed have all been fairly new, I'll bet it reduces with a little time.

Light weight motor recipricating assembly and high compression can really drop the RPMs fast. The heavy accessories like the A/C compressor or steering pump may take a split second to slow down and give out that little chirp.

This has been figured out already (last summer on the C6), it's belt slip under high torque. It goes away above 3K miles. I asked Dave Hill in an email last Aug. and his assistant wrote back a day later saying the same thing.

sorry to revive a decade old thread, but I have the same thing at 50k miles on my 08. I have read several threads and can't find a definitive answer on whether this is clutch or belt. I'm inclined to believe it's the clutch.
