Many owners sense that their cars produce more power and seem faster as they accumulate miles. But my own experience is that it is the driver component that makes that improvement happen.

The owner becomes more attuned to the rhythm of the LS7 and how to (1) shift faster and at a more optimal shift point and (2) maintain better traction. More time with the wheel hooked and under power means better acceleration.

Ranger I agree that practice make perfect and running the 1/4 is a learned skill..which you do better than anyone esle here so far. I can see et gains easily but MPH improvements indicate more power to the ground. Initailly most ZO6 were not hitting the GM 125 mph spec ...now more seem to be doing so. On the way back from NCM the first tank of fuel gave poor fuel economy...as the miles piled up it got better and better.....We should all be very pleased with the ZO6 great performance AND reasonable fuel consumption.....

Again, opinions vary. But my trap speed is always better when I get all the shift points right and make strong shifts, especially the 3-4. That one is hard because the driver is staring down the end of the 1320'.

The difference between a 125 trap and a 127 is really correlated to shift points and the strength of the shifts.

And, I don't mean to leave out the effect of a lower DA. But I made passes 1-10 with traps in the 123-126 range at a better DA than passes 13 & 14 which both were 127+. The better traps came from better shift points and shifts.

Awesome performance!

I might have to take a trip south with my '04 and see if you can sneak it in to the 11's!

Jay, I hope to make one of the private rentals at Atco either this Spring or Fall or both. Would be happy to hook up there.

With a day-long open lane available, suspect you have a good shot at producing the 11 sec slip yourself.

Hey John,
Nice work. I knew you'd continue to improve on your times as you increase your # of runs....
I'd say you're not quite done yet too!!
Great driving. Hope to see you at Atco this season. Let me know when you're coming.

Thanks, J-Rod. Hope you can make some passes in a stock C6Z on DRs. Some new launch techniques are needed for driving around
(1) "torque management"
(2) finickly clutch
(3) tender rear CV joint housing

Traditional launch techniques are limiting the 60' and 330' (1-2) to slower times than we got on the C5Z.

Your involvement in developing the work-arounds would help move the bar faster.

Default Damn Ranger

Congrats, that is some very good driving. I have been trying to get to Houston Raceway Park but just can't get there when its not raining. Now its hot already and I am sure the car will pull big timing and keep me in the 12s. Hoping for one more cool night before summer kicks in so I can try for a sub 11.5 run.

PS. The header should read Damn, Ranger, as in not calling you a damn Ranger. LOL

In AZ (firebird) last I checked you don't need a roll cage, save for sco, unless your faster then 10.0.

I KNEW without question that you would destroy the 11.5 time that everbody kept talking about. I just want you to know that I consider you (Edit: You and J-rod) the best at getting record low times in stock cars. Good job.

Thanks for your kind remarks, SSRogers. There are a lot of fast drivers out there. I'm just one of them who writes about the techniques involved.

Thanks, Randy. Hoping to read of your track visits and how you go about launching this rascal. On DRs, it takes a different approach than with the C5Z. Let me know what works for you.
