katech has a kit available, the bolt pattern is different on the flywheel or something between the zr1 and other cars, so they fix that problem so you can use a zr1 clutch on z06 and base cars if you choose

Asked GM engineering the same thing.
He said it was do-able, but things like shortening the drive shaft amongst other issues had me give up on that idea.

He asked why, when the OEM clutch should last 75-80,000 miles and shouldn't be replaced unless it's slipping.
I check mine after 56,000 miles and it look like new. In fact you would need a mic to measure the wear. Flywheel looked good too, no hot spots.

Hope this helps.

Shortening the driveshaft is not required. We sell a kit called the LS9X clutch and includes
Aluminum flywheel with steel insert
Clutch assembly
Slave cylinder
Pressure plate bolts
$1499.99

I didn't make this up, it came right from the horses' mouth. Some how you've got to make room for the thicker disc.
Sounds like a pricey option.

Should have spoken to a human. Horses aren't too smart. A lot of Z owners in this area have gone with the Katec setup and have had good results. Feels like stock but holds for most head/cam combos. Waiting to do mine soon.

I wasn't accusing you of making things up. Just clearing up the facts. The rear face of case to slave cylinder mounting point distance is identical on all C6s. The ZR1 slave is shorter than the C6/Z06 so that is how we make room for the larger twin disc clutch assembly. It's actually quite an affordable option. When you consider that you're getting a new slave cylinder which costs about $145, it's either right on par with or more affordable than many comparable twin disk clutches.

8lb weight savings between the two. If I recall it was 56lbs vs 48lbs.

I find this clutch is perfect for my needs. ~560RWHP, mostly road courses and auto-x with a few trips a year to the strip. Clutch feels smoother and more effortless then stock and will hold all that I can throw at it. I slapped on a set of DR's last weekend and went 10.6x @133 MPH with a 1.63 sixty foot.

The wife even loves it and she was a little nervous when I said we were doing a twin disk.

The Katech LS9X clutch is my fifth. It is by far the best. $1,500 for a clutch of this kind is CHEAP!
