[Z06] C6 Front License Plate Bracket

My LMB Z06 should be arriving in the next few weeks. I had planned on just leaving off the front plate, but after reading KingJerbo's account of five-O in this neck of the woods (I live in NYC and travel those roas he got nabbed on), this mounting kit seems like a no-brainer. Just so I'm clear, I need to order both the removable mounting kit and the body colored frame, is that correct?

You do not need to order both, some purchase just the mounting kit. The GM colored frame does add a nice touch though.

I just received my bracket and LMB frame the other day, looks great and appears to be an easy install. I joke that my car is coming in pieces, as I have a wonderful blue license plate frame, but no car or plate to put it on yet (another week or so!)

I just installed the plate bracket on my Z06. Wonderful addition to my Z06. In addition the folks at top flight were fantastic answering my questions quickly, quick shipment. Just great folks and product.
To make it quick removal they add another smaller bracket that the main bracket attaches to with wing nuts. Go to their web site to download the intructions. The photos will explain better than I could do with a 1000 words :-)
If you ever want to remove, it is just stuck on with some of the new temporary, but very agressive stick-on double side tape. Similar material to the same material Chevy uses for their front plate mount (I suppose). So using some strong fishing line as described in other places.

Couple of questions:
1) Does putting a plate in front of the intake reduce air flow?
2) A San Franciso dealer told me California drivers violate the law requiring front plates and get away with it. Is this feasible, realistic? (I don't want cops hassling me.)

I don't see any significant difference in oil and coolant temps in street driving, with or without this front plate mounting, and I've been running this bracket since last February and into the current hot summer in Maryland.
When you're really pushing hard (e.g. on the track), the beauty of it is that you can take it off. For normal driving, it really doesn't have a significant effect on either.
In Regards to question #2, two plates are required in CA, and some areas enforce the law more than others.

I just received my front license plate holder after seeing it on another C6 corvette.WOW! Great job guys! We sell about 35 Corvette's a year at our dealership and I am sure to give out the Top Flight info to each and every customer. That is the number 1 topic just before they take delivery..."what about the front tag?" Now I have a more confident answer because the factory provides an inferior alternative. Thanks Top Flight!

I have had mine on since February of this year. The local revenooer's first look to see if I have a front plate on....then scowl to see that I do. Tickles the cockles of my heart to see them so disappointed!

Yes, he does....
Yes, Craig has the Vararam...... When we tuned the car, we didn't notice any loss of airflow...
Your plate works fine.....I would probably remove the plate for drag racing....but you don't NEED to....
You've got a nice product there.

Believe I have the C6 version (although the guys at TF warned me) of the removeable bracket and had to cut a V in the plate so it would fit. Oh well...it's still a thousand times better than the stock mount!
