[Z06] Need a second opinion on painting the wheels on my RFZ!
#21
Don't see how you can generalize and say Chrome doesnt go on a Z . I think it should be based more on a car color/wheel color comparison! I think the chrome looks great on my AO Z and I think it looks great on your RFZ!. But from my Experience(See below Past Car History) I think the White Wheel combo would look good also. But they do get dirty quick!
There again, I have blue Buell with metallic amber wheels against blue paint. I think they look pretty neat.
Let the debate rage on

I think you car looks great the way it is. I do understand the desire to be different you already have the go fast goodies why no make it stand out with wheels. I like the idea of white or brushed aluminum aftermarket wheels, if you stay with the stock wheel I like Black Chrome or Competition grey. I am not a big fan of the black wheels on a white car, I don’t think I helped but I am going through the same issue.

Dude, you have the $$ to buy an RFZ...get another set of wheels and sensors and have them painted black...or better yet, buy the black wheels. That way you can switch off whenever you get bored with either.

I'm not a big fan of chrome (much prefer polished if it must have shine), but on the RF I like the original chrome. The black would look bad on the RF, especially flat black. And white would be even worse. Do you remember the 35th anniversary cars with some brake dust on the wheels?
Comp grey would hide the brake dust the best. If you always keep your car clean stay with the chromies.

dude, go black... you will love it!
One thing i would agree with the others on here about though is getting a second set, it would be a shame to powdercoat chrome IMO.

While I generally don't like chrome, I think the black wheels make the car look like a kid's toy. I don't think you want that. It's to bad that clear coated AL wheels aren't an option. They'd look better with your car.

I think another combination that would look nice is have the red from the fender stripes color matched and powder-coat a spare set of rims with a chrome lip on them.
White is just too much (the 35th anniversary C4's come to mind here), and black doesn't get me excited either (on a white car). Black rims, with the tires, makes the entire wheel well look like a black hole. And on a white car it makes it even more pronounced.
Black wheels on a black car looks fine, gives you the Darth Vader Tie-fighter look (especially with dark tinted windows).
