Default Tint the hood window? Photshop anyone?

Looking more at the Detroit NAIAS ZR1, I'm thinking just tinting that hood window might give it a nice look. Especially with that dark body color, deep tinted side windows and CF roof.

Being clear, to me it just stands out too much. Deep tint the hood window so you can just barely see what's beneath it. I think it would flow better with the whole theme of the exterior appearance. The bright silver and blue under the window wouldn't jump out so much.

If it works, what an easy fix that would be.

Can someone photoshop that Detroit show car with deep tinted windows and deep tint the hood window so you can just barely see the engine.

You could add blue neon under the window so there'd be no mistaking the Blue Devil at night...

Would a tint hold up to the under hood temperatures though?

Are you kidding? I cant wait to see somebody leaning over the fenders of my ZR1 with their hands shading their eyes. Me thinks that could get ugly.

I don't like the tint idea.

Either leave it alone as is or get a new hood. IMO

That's right. It's bad enough that shorter people will be leaning way over and scratching the wide front fenders to get a better view into that itty -bitty window , but with a tint, they'll now be on hands and knees on the hood trying even harder to peer in !

I think you're onto what annoys people about the hood window.

I do see it being a factor that will make it next to impossible to keep handprints off the car.

Tint won't hold up, you'll have to paint the exterior surface of the window.

Better idea; scrap the engine cover, polish the intake, and show-off that engine through the window.

From what I understand, GM wanted to do this, but they couldn't figure out how to resolve rain/water issues and decided to go with the polycarbonate window instead.

Time for one of the vendors to mold a CF hood that will clear the intake without a window...

They'll sell a lot to the ZR1 crowd, and they'll fit on the Z06's as well.

Not possible to put film on it because it is not actual glass. Plastics emit gasses and vapors over their lifetime and it causes the films to bubble and then you will not be able to get the film off because you can't scrape it without ruining the window. You would then have to replace the hood window get back to original look.
