How about a best of 3-- A 1/4 mile run, 1 heat of an auto-x, and 1 20 minute session at your local road course? See how that grabs him.

Default 72 454

Even if it is a heavily modified Corvette it is 300 pounds heavier than you, if an auto then further loss in drive line efficeincy for him. You just need to be a good driver. Todays 505 hp is like 580 in old HP look at the MPH these things are turning in quarter mile mid to high 120's. Best in old days was like 110. OK 1969 ZL Camaro did 118-120.

You should have no problem even if he has some modifications and if you have QM 600 that will add even more power.

Carlos, looks like I'll be adding the QM600 next month That should even the playing field
Yeah get with Carlos, those guys at QM/VA will get straight. I've seen many of their customers put the smacking on folks. And if you need further help, let that knuckle head Carlos drive. I will admit, he knows how to drive!

My uncle has a Restored 1970 Corvette with a factory 454 with 4-speed. Not sure what it's HP is, but it's been essentially brought to stock again.

He's driven my Z06, and readily claims that my stock C5 Z06 is faster. A C6 Z06 isn't even close.

That's 425 gross HP. Probably about 330 net HP.

I know what you mean, Patrick turned my Z into a monster QM/VA are my performance go to guys. Yes, Carlos, our moderately deranged driver , can drive like the wind.

However, this is my match, and I have always fought my own fights I plan to hand him his butt on a platter:yesnod

Heard the QM600 cam live in person today, friggin' awesome Video's don't do it justice.

Let me get this straight............you're pretty sure he's completely stock, and you think you need to mod your C6 Z06 make to sure you can win a drag race? You had him by at least 230 RWHP and several hundred pounds (lighter) the day you drove your car off the showroom floor.

Its too bad when ego's get in the way of family members. Tell him you will race for pinks and then make sure you clean out a space in the garage before the race because it won't even be close if what you say accurate.

Default C6/5Z gonna eat him stock.

Yeah, stock the 71 is toast. C6Z's are just insane fast compared to old cars. To be honest with the low weight and very low gearing even a C5Z well driven bone stock is an 11 second car as many here have proven. 11's are nearly what pro stock cars where running in those days. A stock one has no chance vs either. Damn, you get a easy free car. Some people get all the luck. Ha ha.

A late-model C4 might be a fair match.

If he's stock and you're modding that's not a fair race. But stock for stock, the ZO6 can sleep well at night,

Bone stock it is a high 13, low 14 second car. It will have trouble with a bone stock 88 L98. LT1, LT4, LS1, LS2, LS6, LS7, LT5, LS3, LS9 will all destroy him in straight line and in the corners. He needs to realize that new cars have much more engineering in them.

I have owned and driven a 67 435, 69 L88, and 71 LS6'; and if can drive you could beat any one of those. All were stock with the exception of the 435 (which was monster) and my 06 Z06 is still quicker and faster.

So James, you used this race as an excuse to get the QM cam package?

You know you were going to do it anyway!

Welcome to the QM600 club, I am sure you will destroy him if he still wants to race. He may have a change of heart when he hears you pull up now....?
