06 Z 56k?
What do you think? Buy it or walk away?
2006 Z06. 2LZ all options but NO Nav (a plus for me I want the 6 disc changer in dash) Velocity Yellow (mandatory color-not interested in any other on a Z) with polished wheels, full black interior, original manual in the glove box-- very minor but seems very rare with a used car these days on a dealer lot.
10,200 miles. Very clean - one or two tiny rock ships at worst to hood--several on the front brake calipers. New or near new stock rubber. Started life in Oct 05 in Michigan (Les Stanford car) ended up in California a year later in the fall of 06 ( 2 prior owners).
Downside: GM warranty-service report: Roof fix at dealership via the foam/glue method sometime in the fall of 06 (going off memory), electic sensor fix regarding the passenger and trunk lock releases about 6k miles and then at 7400 miles ..differential gasket and cover work(suspect more diff work but GMs note print out stops there after mentioning the cover and gasket re warranty parts).
The last surprise..nice sound on start up..found tucked away up in the fuse box--the "mild to wild" control installed--working off the homelink on the drivers visor.
So... $55,999 a good price or walk away--hot rod joe had it (diff repair)...(its on a dealership lot and they have no clue about the mild to wild install)

there is better deals out there most 06's can be had for mid to low 50's
see if you can talk them down a few k, then even better
it's a buyers market right now
06's only had the 3/36 i believe, maybe you can get them to certify it for no cost?

BTW anyone intrested there's a 07 MS fully loaded 2lz at City Chevy in Charlotte NC in perfect cond with 1800 miles that I made an offer of 60500 they accepted. Had a deposit on it but shipping to Cali turned out to be a pain in the *** so I grabed mine local for 61000. Someone should jump on that one as it's a great car at a great price...just saying. Let me know if you need any more 411

go back and look at the car.Without them noticing, keep switching the mild to wild off and on.
Tell them "WTF,what is wrong with this thing"
Maybe they will sell it to you a lot cheaper if they think it is broken

That car has been on there at least twice, if not more. He has came way down on his price. Looks like it may sell this time. 1LZ car, but still a good deal.

Sounds like an O.K. deal to me, I got a 6,000 mile 07 2lz with nav back in Nov. for 60k, there are deals out there, you just can't be in to big of a hurry! I bought mine from a fellow forum member! Great guys here on the forum.....check around, you might find one on here and save yourself sales tax like I did. In Ga., no sales tax on private party....60k out the door! Can't beat that deal!

Thanks for input-- prefer dealer over private unless its a big price differnece due to shift in loan rates (in Calif most private sales banks charge a 'personal' loan rate a couple percent higher; out of state no savings--Calif will hit you here for use tax if you didn't pay sales tax someplace else -either way I pay). I've been all through their paperwork..they are at bottom pricing- I know they paid 54k for it..don't mind them getting a little profit.

This is a very fair deal. That car could be priced at $52,000 and people would still tell you "you can get them cheaper" The fact that the car doesn't need tires is a $1,500 plus. Most used 06's need tires anywhere near $55,000 or less. If the car is close and you don't have to spend transportation its another plus. The diff. is nothing to worry about its more of a common problem not so much related to abuse. This car would still break $52,000++ at an auction right now. Regardless of what they tell you its fair for everyone. If you know they paid $54,000 then $1,900 is no real profit when putting out $54,000. If the dealer will put it in writing no paint work, no accidents and I don't mean a clean carfax. Then that dealer knows what their selling.
1. Its the color you want
2. No Nav. like you want
3. Doesn't need tires or hasn't had junk tires put back on
4. Only a few chips (not beat up)

The prices are all over the board.
08's with options with 4,700 miles have sold for $64,000+ fee's, transportation.
07's have sold for $60,000 with 4,000 miles
9,000 miles $59,000
06's w/16,000 miles $52,000 needs tires and beat up
9,000 miles $52,400
4,000 miles, $53,500
12,000 miles, $52,500
You get what you pay for. Paint work, accidents, etc. I've seen certified cars, clean carfaxes, etc. that need serious money spent on them to make them look like a nice car. Again you don't know from the results if they are BuyBacks, etc. If the car comes out of the Detroit with a couple thousand miles, that car looks like it has 30,000 miles. I have seen these cars first hand and wonder how can a car get that beat up in 5,000, 3,000, 10,000 miles.

Thanks LPE385...just made arrangements for a Corvette specialist (MSI Roseville CA) to go over the car tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully that will ease my mind. Its just an earlyish build (Sept) 05 and you always hear the early build problem stuff.....

I have a friend that owns a car dealership, he pulled up the auction pricing on his computer....06's are going for 51k-53k with less than 10k, but there are very few that run through the auction. you almost have to be lucky to find one.
on the flip side, I ordered a brand new 2008 JSB 1LZ with Comp Grey wheels today for $65, 375 . I got an invoice price from Kerbeck, but my local dealer beat his price by $500 to get the sale, although I have to wait 6-8 weeks for it to arrive.
