[Z06] Best cold air intake for LS7?

Here's the real deal. You can't ask a crowd of people their opinion on a matter then demand proof of that opinion. The only way to answer this question is for the asker to buy one of every intake out there and carefully test and compare them according to his personal set of standards. No other way to answer this question. Why we have so many answers as to which one is best is because everyone has a different set of perameters that he considers the most important to judge by. When I bought my Z I already knew that I wanted a better intake because they all are, in my opinion, better than stock for several reasons that I considered important to me. I went with Jim Hall because of his reputation, pit bull tenacity towards bringing something better to market and his attention to detail. Did that mean that his intake is the best at any one perameter? Don't know, don't care. I wanted a better intake for my car and cost wasn't a factor so I went with Halltech and I never lost a minute of sleep wondering if I made the right decision.

Vararam.....
Some will go on about how their intake makes two more horsepower on the dyno.....but ask them to compare data logs on return rates out in the real world. Suddenly the answer changes

air raid CAI
I am looking into CAI for my 2007 Z06 and ran across the air raid. It does very well on my lmm Duramax. Its been a pretty good filter that did all you can expect. THis is an old thread are there any new products we need to look at?

I like my K&N. Great product for the money, plus it looks/works as good, if not better than some of the others in my opinion. They all do, just matters what you want to spend or try to your liking. Can't lose either way.

Halltech Killer Bee. It relocated the MAF to closer to the filter. This makes it easier to tune cars that want to surge after a cam swap.
There is a mention of this intake on a standing mile run. It out performed all the rest. Cant be sure where I read it, or if I'm dreaming/drinking.

Having had a C5 LS1 with Vararam, American Racing Long Tubes, and a Corsa Pace car exhaust I was wondering about the Vararam for my 2009 Z06, but I have seen a lot of negative for that here. Was looking at the K&N which appears to be easy to install. Not real sure about their claim of 27 HP increase, but even a little better air flow is good. I tried looking at Halltech, but didn't fine their website user friendly. Would appreciate thoughts from other Z06 owners who have upgraded.

I had a Vararam on my 04Z and it worked great with long tubes and a tune. Traded my for a 06Z and installed an Airaid and did well. Traded in the 06 last May for a 13Z and will put another Airaid on it in a few weeks. Really liked the Vararam but after all the comments on possible water ingestion I will go with another Airaid, four years left on the warranty.

I cannot see a 12-20 hp gain of a 505 hp engine that is hard to feel in the butt dyno that costs over $400.00. My stock 07 Z takes my breath away and I doubt I'd feel 12-20 hp.

You'd be surprised...that is technically 1-2 car lengths in the 1/4 mile. What you tend to notice the most is better throttle response with CAI's tho.
