LS ENGINE CONNECTING ROD BOLT FROM KATECH PERFORMANCE PROMOTES DURABILITY

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Katech Performance knows the first step to enhancing the durability of production LS engines is to upgrade the connecting rod bolts. Compatible with the LS1, LS2, LS6 and LS7, Katech’s new replacement connecting rod bolt is a simple and cost effective form of insurance against failure.

Held to the highest J-rolled thread specification, the bolt offers ultra-high yield strength (240 ksi) and is produced exclusively for Katech Performance by a certified aerospace fastener manufacturer. “Our bolt allows for greater clamp force and reliability at high rpm,” said Caleb Newman, vice president, director of aftermarket operations, Katech Performance. “We introduced the first high-strength LS replacement rod bolt in 2000 and our latest design works across all Gen III and Gen IV applications.”

The Katech Performance bolt is a direct replacement for the factory bolt in powder metal or titanium connecting rods. In LS7 blocks, no clearance machining is required, thanks to the bolt head’s shorter length.

Material: H11 alloy steel
Thread: M9x1.0
Head: 14 mm, 12 point
Packaging: Individually wrapped with protective sleeves
Application: 1997-current; Gen III/Gen IV (LS1, LS2, LS6, LS7, LQ4, LQ9, LS3, L92)
Thread lubricant: Steel rods - CMD Extreme Pressure Lube #3 (included), Titanium rods - Dow Molykote 1000
Reusable: Yes

We do have a spring/titanium retainer combo available.

Since we have never failed a production rocker arm on an LS7 we see no need to change them.

Good job on the bolts.

As to the rockers, do you have any explanation for why you have never seen a failure? I'm not doubting you, just trying to understand.

Probably because there have been so FEW failures it is just simply mathmatical probability. It is not as big of a problem as this forum makes it out to be.

When you say "so few failures" are you referring to Katech's experiences or do you have inside supporting data from GM as well?

Bingo!!!

Response bias: people with failures complain, people with no failures do not.

I don't discuss inside GM information.

GM will not back any product and say it will not void the warranty. Besides this isn't for the guy who has a stock engine and wants to change just the rod bolts. This is for the guy who wants to build an LS7 and wants to increase the strength and be able to reuse the bolts over and over.

Yes, this bolt has been improved over our previous LS rod bolt. Lingenfelter used the same supplier we did so theirs are equivalent to our previous design (KAT-A2326). I don't have any grounds for comparison on the ARP bolt.
