My thoughts on my new Z06, with pics
Well, after shopping around a year and talking myself out of it multiple times, I finally got a 2008 Z06. The prices are right now and I found a local dealer (Jim Reed in Nashville) that matched Kerbeck’s price. Let me say….what a machine. It is a huge difference from my 2006 C6 coupe. The improvements that Chevy made just to the C6 as a whole are very evident. The stereo sounds better, I love the new FOB (great to have the key in it), the steering feels crisper and lighter, and the transmission is way smother and has better feel. Some said the improvements were just hype, but it is impressive the subtle improvements that GM makes every year on the C6. Now having said that, the steering wheel stereo controls don’t do much for me and I can do without the Onstar. One more thing, I LOVE the JSB; you have got it see it for yourself in the sunlight to do it justice.
Now, for the difference in the Z06 itself….let me just say that I had a few top end sportbikes that have felt like a race machine with a license plate and I’ve never had that feeling in a car….until now. The Z06 is a finely tuned and wonderfully crafted pure breed race machine. On the street with my C6 coupe, I felt like I could get somewhat close to its limits occasionally…not so with the Z06. It feels like a caged animal, begging to be set free. I’ve got a little over 500 miles on it now and I’ve not taken it all the way to redline yet, but does this thing have some power, it picks up RPM’s fast as lighting and pulls like a freight train…and the sound, WOW. And that is just the beginning; the thing handles so much better than my 06 C6 F55 coupe. In the same corners that somewhat strained my 06, the Z06 doesn’t break a sweat, it is like it is on rails. Also, you get so much road feel with this car, and the ride is not that bad at all, compared to my F55 coupe. The brakes..wow the brakes, I recently got in them a little hard (after bedding them in) on the interstate and I thought a parachute had popped out the back of the car it slowed so fast. The only bad thing I can say is that the brakes sure put out a lot of dust, but I guess that is the price you pay. The only other negative things are that I got a 2LZ because I wanted an all black interior and I’m a little disappointed that my Z06 doesn’t have a power passenger seat or power hatch pull like my 06 coupe did.
I could go on and on, but I’ll try and close this with just saying that the Z06 is so much more than just 505 horsepower, (you just can’t put the wide fenders and a supercharger on a base C6 and get it) it is a complete package, a race machine with a place to put a license plate..and one whos limits are not going to be reached consistently or safely on the streets.

Well written and well said. My car has 300 miles on it and I could have written your same review. I feel the same way about mine, (except I couldn't care less about the power passenger seat.)
Nice review.... and beautiful car.
Good Luck with it and Be safe...

Very nice. JSB has turned out to be quite the popular color despite all the negative nancys that were whining when the color was first introduced and LMB got canned.
Personally, I'd take JSB over LMB any day.

This exact car was at our local auto show this Spring and seeing that color for the first time, i was pleasantly surprised! I was a 'negative nancy" about it when it came out because i liked NBM so much.. I havent seen it in the sun yet, but under the flourescent lights it looked great!
Nice write up!

You hit it on the head. I keep hearing about widebody kits and making a C6 faster than a Z and on and on. There is still nothing like the Z, one you do some seat time in one! GM scored a home run with this one. Nice car and nice pics..

Congrats on your new Z. Very nice. I too was a little disappointed in no power passenger seat. The one thing I really missed was the light under the hood. Couldn't believe it didn't have that. Totally agree with your write up. Phenominal car.
