Default Why doesn't the 2008 z06 have the automatic trunk closeing mechanism like the c6?

This is crazy..I went from a 52k silver c6 to an 82k 2008 black z06 (which I bought at auction for 60k..tee hee) ....but what the hell man...

my cheaper c6 had the automatic trunk closing mechanism and my z06 doesn't have it. That trunk on my z06 is a bitch to get closed. Did they not put the automatic trunk closing mechanism on the z06 because of weight reasons? why would a more expensive model such as the z06 not have that feature? Is the mechanism really that heavy? How much is it to get one installed on my z06?...that feature is the only thing I miss on my c6....

of course the z06 is amazing and I love everything about it but why is it missing this feature?

I would like to hear see some discussion on this topic.

Thanks

The cumulative weight savings add up. I no longer have a power passenger seat, either. In some areas, lighter materials are used, and in other areas features are left off. It's a good trade to have a 3,190 lb. car with 505 horsepower.

I hope you like your black one as much as I like mine.

Relieves the air pressure that keeps the hatch from closing easily.

thats really awesome. I never knew that. does the door have to be cracked open? could you have both doors closed and have the windows down and it will have the same effect?

I cant believe I never thought of that

A Window Valet works well too.

Check with one of the forum vendors.

You can automatically raise and lower the windows with the Window Valet.

Hey..I noticed you're from rhode island. I was just there with some family a few months ago. It's beautiful there. Do you ever eat at a restaurant called the red parrot?

Your Silver 52k C6 would not do 0-60 in 3.7 sec. or 198 mph.

Weight savings. Keep the door or window open when closing since this is a very air tight car or push down hard. Ever read the manual????

yep i read the manual and it sucks. I dont know if its all manuals or just mine but it has z06, vert, and c6 info all in one clusterfu*k and its real irritating. Why can't they just make a z06 manual with just z06 info in it. If they do, I didn't get it with my z06, just the one with all 3 vettes in it mixed together. i found reading the manual annoying. Is there a .pdf file or someting that just has z06 info in it only?

Sadly, due to people buying the Z06 for a status symbol instead of as a performance car, yes, the Z06 is slowly porking up with "gizmos".

This is also one of the main reasons the ZR1 is a GT car instead of a hard core go fast car.

It was already porking up with the additional sound deadening material back in 07. Once again GM tries to ruin something over time rather than improving it.

Same as the printed one with vert, coupe, and Z06 mixed, but at least it is searchable...

When you open the doors the windows automatically lower themselves about an inch, helping the closing of the doors easier. Why didn't they program the windows to do the same when you open the hatch. Wouldn't it have the same effect closing the hatch as the doors?
