What kind do you have on your Z? Where are they placed? Are there any negatives that you have experienced long term...heat/clearence?
Also, I heard they leak over time and get louder even when closed? Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Just looking for some overall opinions on those that have them...also if you have pics and would post them, that would be a big plus.
Thanks and have a great New Year!

I really don't get it?
Doesn't a Z06 make a statement without the noise.
Performance is there, power is there.
If you need to make allot of power the pipes are open.
You guys on here 'crack me up'.
How many do actually ooh and ahh at the sound.
Who cares?
The only one I want to impress is the driver, and the the loud exhaust takes away from the things I listening to.
I want to listen to the tires and the engine, and maybe JUST the radio.
When I'm driving my Z06, the only one I'm impressing is myself.
How about you?
If I thought there was an ounce of performance to be gained by making the exhaust loud, I'd be first in line.
On the other hand;
if I were to modify the exhaust, not to meet legal noise levels and EPA pollution levels, just to impress others for little gain in HP#'s (IF ANY).
ARE WE ABOVE ALL THE POLLUTION CONTROL?
Why bother?
Don't mind me, my car is stealth, like under the radar.
Still packs the punch, without the noise.

but again, just preference. some love it loud, some love it quiet. personally, im the loud guy.
and for pollution control... cutouts are after the cats, thus not effecting pollution legality.
just my $.02

first of all, sound is preference. you don't buy a high performance car to putt around and hide from the world. you buy one because your an enthusiast and you enjoy it! for me, the louder the better. how many compliments do you get on having a quiet exhaust? if you don't want the attention, don't buy a z06

Try and tell me cut outs are legal. LOL
"im the loud guy."
It's all good.
Maybe you're not fast, but we can hear you coming or going.
I don't drive mine for others to hear, but for my own satisfaction.
I still don't get it,
Pay money, Less performance, but more noise and possible illegal
You're changing a little part of the equation, IE: intake volume, combustion volume, exhaust volume and trading noise for performance without even being sure. LOL
They let anybody buy a Corvette.
Too bad Chevy didn't do it right to start with.
Look for my next tread
Could a professional driver be faster with any of these mods and still be street legal or are Corvette owners above the law and if they want to pollute they should be exempt.

It looks like the constant heat probably weakened the leaf. It looks like the smarter solution is to have the outlets point downward if all possible to help aviod this problem. I have coil-overs so the leaf thing is not a problem, but I want to design it correctly in case I ever put the leafs back on
My real concern is how close the cut outs are to the transaxle. My car is primary used for road racing, which compared to street driving or drag racing creates lots more heat, so not sure about the effect of dumping exhaust right next to the transmission and diff. I think if I can extend the pipes and face them downward away from the transaxle, it might be a better solution for me.
Thanks for all the great replies.

I've had QTP cutouts on my 07 for over a year now and love the sound. I have their electronic switch and have it programed for 25%, 50% and 100%. I usually keep them at 25% open and very rarely at 100%. It's just too loud open all the way. What I really like about them is that I can have them closed in the neighborhood and when my wife is in the car and then open them up when I'm alone. BTW, I just crawled underneath to look at the leaf spring and it continues to look okay. Bottom line is that I am very happy with them. Cost me about $600 all in (parts and labor).

You keep bitching about "pollution" - cutouts after the cats do not effect pollution one bit, I'm guessing you are brainwashed by CARB over there in your state.
I respect everyone's opinion and choice to do what they want to their own cars, but I hate to see someone like you that goes out of their way to crap on someone's ride just because YOU don't like it. You drive a Z06 by the way... if you want to stay "under the radar" I suggest you trade down to a Corolla. I personally love the looks and stares I get as I cruise around town.
I wouldnt go as far to do cutouts, but I do plan to have the muffler mod done soon in the future.
