Assuming 15% of power is lost between the motor and the pavement it seem the C6 ZO6 has more than 505 hp. Just a thought.

OEM's have to be within +/- 2% for their ratings. So, based on that, the max it could be within tolerance of the rating system would be 515 stock at the flywheel and the lowest would be 495. The typical wheel power range seen is between 430-470 depending on a number of environmental factors and the dyno type which seems to show that GM was at least truthful in their rating of the C6Z. Not saying the OEM's don't play games with the numbers, pretty sure they do in some cases..............hellcat.............. .demon...............

I think it's safe to say that the 15% rule of thumb doesn't necessarily apply anymore to modern driveline systems. They seem to be more efficient nowadays, not by much, but more efficient nonetheless. Thus, most Z's are seeing between 10-15% and they seem to skew more towards the 10-12% end of the spectrum based on people typically seeing 450+ when stock. The 430's tend to be seen on the usually stingy/low reading mustang dynos.

Even then, just a thought, it's possible that these cars hitting 430 (which is the only number at the 15% mark for 505 fwhp) could actually simply be on the low end of the 2% tolerance in the factory rating and would thus again fall in line with the 10-12% loss range rather than the 15% rule of thumb.

What do you think?

Im getting over 500RWHP on a stock Stingray with an A&A S/C set on a conservative 7psi - for $6500 installed. If youre concerned mainly with HP, 35-40K more for a Z06 isnt exactly smart money spent. You can build a faster car on a stock build and save a crap load of $$$ in the process.

I love the Z06 dont get me wrong, but cant justify spending that much more when I can build it for half the premium.

I always buy a 1-2 year used car on the current platform with minimal upgrades (unless its internal) . Add in what I want and not what the dealer wanted - cant tell you how many 10s of thousands of $$ Ive saved over the years always ending up with something faster than an off the lot premium comparable.

In the end theres nothing like a Vette! Well Ok, I would trade mine in a heartbeat for a Ferrari, but thats in a different dream.
