[ZR1] Ground Clearance

Ground Clearance
Can any of you lucky ZR1 owners comment on splitter & rocker damage due to the reduced ground clearance? Considering selling or trading my '07 'vert for either a Z06 or ZR1.

Being careful
Have had mine since Sept. Still no problems. Driveways and dips in the road should be given extra consideration but no real concerns. Lots of luck.

Go in and out of the driveway at an angle and take speed bumps slow and you won't have a problem. Also avoid entrances to parking lots with a very steep incline (there is a hardware store near me that I will not take the Z into).

My Z06 hit on my driveway ramp. No issues with the ZR1.

Burning Brakes
ZR1 scrapes into my driveway need to make the old lady exit the car to raise it up a bit! I had to grind the
concrete to remove the high edge at the entrance, the ZO6 doesn't scrape. I rubbed my right side skirt
on a curb in a parking lot, and peeled the clear ventureshield on the edge. The film saved the skirt.
, but trashed the film.

While i hit my front of my z06 all the time it doesnt seem to do any real damage since its just plastic. That being said something to be careful of is the side skirts and underside of the car. I have notice that sometimes i am really careful putting the front of the car over a speed bump but going down the backside i get careless. If you go down the backside too fast the shocks compress and the car will bottom out on the speed bump and make a HORRIBLE noise, take note.

Agreed. I'm mainly just concerned about backing out of my driveway which is relatively flat. I scrape a little bit every time. Sounds like adjusting the stock bolts only drops the front About a 1/2 inch and the rear about 3/4 of an inch. I've read that backing in the driveway mat solve the problem. I will try that after work today.

Melting Slicks
Holy Thread resurrections Batman!
It is not that the front splitter is any lower, It just sticks out a few inches from the front bumper cover so it prone to hitting curbs if you pull up to far and sudden dips or driveway angle can cause the bottom edge to scrape.

You just have to constantly be aware of road and driveway conditions. A lot of it depends on where you live. If I see a driveway that may be steep, I avoid it. Replacing that front splitter is quite expensive.

I understand that it protrudes fwd more than the ZO6 splitter. But I googled it and several people state that the ZR1splitter scraps bottom much less than the Z one does. I don't make the news I just report it 😀

I ruined the CF splitter on my ZR1 getting in an out of the driveway at my former house. The driveway was on a incline and had a roll curb. I solved the problem with a Bridjit Curb Ramp.
