Default How much do you pay for an oil change?

I haven't had my C6 Z06 for to long yet and have not had to change the oil yet. How much do you guys usually have to pay? On my C5Z it was usually about $75. I'm guessing this one needs more oil....

Ouch, yeah I figured it would be about $100. How accurate is the "Oil Life Remaining" read out?

I would pay zero. I do it myself to make sure it is done correctly.

Would still cost about $70 for the oil and filter if I were do it myself.

Metro Detroit dealer Cauley Chevrolet charges me $80 buck's. I normally change my own, but want the paper work on this car. These guy's are real Corvette nuts and field a race team, so feel pretty comforable with it. Unfortunely they're currently in a battle with GM corporate to stay open. Bummer.

Well, lessee...

$70 or so for oil.
$15 for a filter.
$40 or so labor (I'm generous to my tech).
$100 for engine oil analysis and tribologist's report.
$4 to mail in the EOA.

That's nothing. Once you adjust to buying tires for these things, everything else seems minor.

nothing but the cost of oil and a filter for me.

Too much risk in taking it to a dealer - overpriced, and my time is valuable to me.

I meant I would pay zero to a dealer. You are right, the oil and filter add up to about $70, give or take. I have heard too many stories of not enough oil being put back in, or not enough drainplugs removed, or oil put into the wrong hole to trust someone else to do it for me. It may sound weird, but I actually don't mind crawling around under the car and looking around when the oil is draining. I have carpet in my garage and it is actually quite comfortable.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind doing it myself to avoid the risk of something wrong happening. I just hate having to deal with the old oil. Usually it just ends up sitting in my garage....

That's what I do because I really don't have enough faith in any dealership around here and I know if I do it, it will be done right...

i bought one of those oil pans that also functions as a resivore... I can change my Z06's oil and my S10's oil and just take it down to autozone and dump it for free, no mess and no worries about being environmental satan.

i pay about $55 give or take depending on the oil sale. $23 each 5 quart jug of (M1 i buy 2) and use the other 2 quarts in other cars. then the oil filter is $8 for the PF48 at pepboys. and then just do the change myself.
