Default Rodeo Ride!

Finally got tired of the bucking and surging on my 07 10,000 mile ZO6. This was discussed here as recently as a couple of days ago and seems common. It's when you're in any of the first 4 gears but especially 1st and 2nd that this problem (if that's what it is?) rears it's ugly (ruined driving experience) head. Try to hold the throttle steady or even just slow down a tad and the car jerks thru the drivetrain, a bit like stabbing the gas peddle on and off and on again etc. I think it's either the electric "fly by wire" throttle playing up or the timing when it transitions from mid range revs to low range idle revs but what do I know? Never did it before until I hit 9,750 miles. Took it back to the dealer for diagnosis under warranty, really great guys and fantastic service, they also did the rear diff refill, flushed the injectors, acknowledged I have a gearbox leak which they will re check next month and if necc pull the tranny out to rectify BUT unfortunately couldn't fix the surging which is kind of disapointing. They do believe that it's considered normal for the Z and some cars are worse than others. I'm guessing it could be tuned out BUT the dealer can only do what's recommended within the GM warranty guidelines. I guess when the warranty is out, I'll take it to a good tuner and see what can be done. Tom Wong, most likely I'll be seeing you next May!

Have you checked your intake to see if the hydro carbon absorbing pads are coming loose and flopping down into the intake?

I've noticed a little driveline slop in my car when creeping in traffic in first or second gear. It does buck a little, kind of rocking back and forth. Usually changing up or down a gear cures it.

09 Z here - mine does the same:

Very obvious in 1st gear and not as bad in 2nd - under 2000 RPM, not as obvious b/t 2K and 3K, and gone over 3K.

There are 3 pedals where my feet rest. I have found that if I push like hell on the right one it cures most things I have a complaint with.

You know our cars come with a fairly aggressive stock cam. I would attribute a lot of the bucking to this. You ought to take a ride with me in my car with the striker cam!!

Even my C6 did it. My son complained and he thought it was me until I let him drive it.

This is funny... My 08 Z just turned 10,000 miles and I started noticing this problem about a 1000 miles ago. Thought it was just me....

Neither has mine with 5400 miles. Something is wrong with your car.

I have 15000 on my 07 and do not have any significant surging, but it has been tuned. Check the pads and MAF as was suggested and if all is well, pay to get it tuned - and try to get the dealer to 'suggest' it to keep it under waranty.

Please, do not do that, no dealer can "suggest" anything for you to keep your warranty. GM is prety black and white: aftermarket tune = no warranty.

Now, what you might want to see is if you local gm dealer would do an ECM re-flash with the latest configuration changes.

You can also unplug the battery for a few minutes, that will reset a couple things in your ECM, and that might help.

Try some Techron injector cleaner -our truck responded well to it-
