ZR1 Top Gear Lap Time
The log awaited ZR1 around the Top Gear test lap happened tonight here in the UK when they did a feature on the ZR1 vs the Audi R8 V10
Clarkson said that given the choice you should buy the ZR1 as it is a much more fun car to drive and you get a lot more as standard like ceramic brakes on the Corvette. The Audi back end was stepping out a lot coming out of the corners whereas even on the damp track where the Audis four wheel drive system should have given it an advantage, the ZR1 was flat out of the corners. I think if the track had been dry the ZR1 would easily have been in the 1.19's
(pd) by the way means partly damp!

I dont beleive top gear BS, but to each his own.
Its a fun show to watch, but dont take everything they say seriously.
Different drivers, different weather conditions are definitely not the correct way to measure a vehicles speed on a track. Also terms such as partly damp are VERY subjective.

Just finished watching the episode, fun stuff. The ZR1 really put it to the Audi. Beating the R8 by 1.2 seconds was pretty amazing, especially when you consider it was a damp track.

Ok, i wont compare it to a dry lap. The 540-4 was pd and it was faster then the Zr1. All i am saying is i thought it would be alittle faster.

That is the problem with tying to compare these lap times. We have no idea how wet the track was on each of these days. I would also think that the Lambo's awd would be a big advantage on a wet track.

Much better if the track is dry.

I love the show.... until they start to review American built cars. Clarkson always seems to find something wrong with them. It gets old Jeremy!
That being said... I hate to say this guys, but if I had my choice between the two with price not being an issue, I'd be all over the R8 V10...
I LOVED the electric car build they did as well... haha, couldn't have been any better!

All in good fun IMO. The Brits are a little more concerned about behaving "properly" than we are. Just some cultural differences. Sometimes I think there may be some jealousy under the surface for whatever reason. It's just British acting, well, British.
But all the power of the ZR1 obviously takes a talented driver like the Stig to get the best times. I just love the tailpipe shot when the ZR1 is accelerating. That scene stuck with me all day.

So disappointed the surface wasn't dry to get a real #...
Very interesting that the ZR was quicker on a damp track, as the R8 platform is infinitely stable @ the limit (at least the V8 R8 is...).
It takes a lot more talent (and attachments) to drive the ZR @ the limit, I'm certain. It sure was that way between a C6Z & a V8 R8 from personal experience.
I'd say the ZR is capable of a 1:19.2 on a dry track, IMHO.

Loved the episode. Love the way it's shot, the jokes about the German being executed for installing the non-working part in the Audi...it's just very entertaining. Although I of course love the Vette, I'd be lying if I didn't admit I lust after that R8 V10 just as much.
As for the second here or there - let's be honest, the performance of these cars is some pretty rarified air. I think it's a matter of picking the one you like to drive and look at most cause they're all so dang fast.
