My quest for 10s comes up short..
Many of you know my '06 Z is 100% stock. I have been on the Fast List for my best pass on Stock tires. I recently got a set of DR and have been waiting for the right weather here in South Florida to make and assault on 10s in stock trim. The air was good... the DA was between -300 and -650 all night... but my launch was not there. For whatever reason I just cant seem to launch my car with the elite Z06 drivers... I ran three 11.2X at 126-127 with a best 11.18 at 127.97 wrapped in the middle of 5 runs. My 60ft times were all in the 1.8x range with the exception of 1 pass that was a wheel spinning 2.0... There is always next time... only problem is we get this weather so rarely. But I'll keep on trying!

Your close Frank. The mph was there but as you know that 10.xx will come with a nice 60ft. Are you bogging bad off the line? what were you launching at? you probably need to slip that thing out a little more. Any video? I'll say you just need to do a rental. The repetition of back to back passes within minutes of each other is where you'll find the launch you're looking for. Doing 20+ passes in one day will do wonders for getting it down with DR's or stock rubber...

I was at 3500 for most runs with a bog... the run that spun I tried 4k .. but that was a no go.
I got to work on the launch!
There is a track rental coming up... but it when the weather is not the best... but maybe I should do it to work on the launch!!

Frank - Congrats on your new PR and hope you continue your assault on the 10 second mark. Your 330-1320 of 6.30 is certainly fast enough to run 10's and shows your car was producing good power (As is hitting 128 mph).
Once you nail the launch, I'm sure you will be there.

Thats a fantastic run IMO!!! You are correct its the launch that needs to make it happen. I think its typically a 1.67 60ft or better seems to be a magic mark for many that i've seen. You had fantastic air obviously and the MPH shows things are doing well and I would think the shifting must be good to have that MPH. How many passes do you have under your belt thus far? I'll be getting frustrated this year aswell trying to do this. I'm gonna try my hardest to make it happen in 50passes or less if i can get the clutch to hold up to the abuse despite it has 20k miles on my 2008 z06. Good luck and keep trying!!!!!!!!

I can only wish to have those times with drag radials around here with this cold snowy weather.... Well hopefully in the next few weeks I can go to the track with the drag radials and do a 10sec pass...

I guess but if he picked up 1MPH from the better air/track and couple that with the 1.81 it may be close. What would 129MPH with a 1.81 60' generate? Looks like if you did get the 1.67 60' that would/should be .3 on the big end correct? So you could be looking at 10.9 possible high 10.8's?
Either way it's amazing what a well driven Z can do. Makes me want to make a large purchase sooner, rather than later LOL

Frank - I did the estimation calculation using 1.5 x the difference in 60's times (I found this to work fairly for stock C6Z's).
On your 11.18 run, you would have needed a 1.686 60' to break into the 10's - assuming you drove the car the exact same way.
So, now you know what to shoot for.

Nice job Frank & good mph as well for the conditions!
As mentioned, launch is where you're likely being held back...Practice it. Going to that rental, even if you just do multiple passes to just past the 60' mark or half track will benefit you in your quest greatly!
Good luck!

C5 Frank absolutely rips. The DA does not tell the whole story. I was there, he forgot to mention that we had a stiff head wind at PBIR. Unfortunately, we often do when the cold fronts sweep by. Also, understand the sliver of a window of time that we have down here, to try and match the times at some of the tracks that have set Z06 records, and this adds stress. Had C5 Frank been at one of the Z06 record-holding tracks, he would've been in the 10s long ago.
Okay C5 Frank, don't blow my cover! See ya next time.

Nice driving Frank, fantastic times. .
You know it is truly testament to what these cars are capable of when a guy laments that his efforts at running a 10 second quarter mile time, bone stock and on drag radials, "came up short". That trap speed is huge.
These cars never cease to amaze me in completely bone stock configuration.
Good luck in your efforts Frank, and again, congrats on running 11.1 on just a change of tires.
