Sorry for not adding the link, but google DR.Gas. I purchase a 3" bolt in X pipe for my Z from them. His cross over is located further forward than some of the other X pipes I have seen. It was my understanding that the x pipe works better when the cross over is in or as close to the hottest zone of the exhaust system. However, I purchased it to smoth the exhaust note. But hell if there is any additional horse power realized from it, I'll take it.

That's a pickup worth spending a little money on if it's a simple bolt on. How much does the Corsa X-pipe cost?

I checked the Corsa website and they said "Used with our mufflers, experience an incremental 3 HP gain" for their Z06 X-over pipe #14173. That's not worth spending ~$470 for, in my opinion.

The Dr. Gas X-pipe is ~$400 but they don't say anything about HP gains on their website that I could find. Borla also doesn't say anything about HP gains on their website, that I could find.

I'm interested in how Katech saw an 12 HP improvement with just a simple exchange from a H-pipe to an X-pipe. Or did they do a tune afterwards, and that's the HP increase they saw.

Katech's website says this was achieved on a cam-equipped car. My guess is that the tune was optimized both before and after the x-pipe swap.

I guessing that the shop fabricated the X-over and that you did not use a commercially available one. $200, out the door, is a very good price.

I'd be very suprised to see any gain at all with a stock car.
I'm putting on the ZR1 X-Pipe and mufflers on my car this weekend.

As a baseline, we dyno'd my car this morning here in hot AZ. I placed my stock airbridge and air cleaner assembly on the car, so the car was baselined bone stock this morning.

The average of 3 pulls this morning, she put down 447.31 RWHP and 430.10 RWTQ.

I'll dyno the car again after the install and let you know sometime next week what the results are.

The cats are connected to the exhaust manifolds, not the H pipe. With long tubes the cats are moved to the X-pipe.

Actually no he didnt.. I was a already made piece he picked up from a local seller I guess..Once I was there the X was ready to go ..he just cut here and there to make it fit right.I was thinking the same thing that we would make an X on the fly but again this was already made.. I have a pic of it on my phone , how how can I upload it here ?

I might be able to email it..

X-pipe and exhaust is on, and I'm impressed with the results (sound wise).
With the flaps open, the exhaust is definetly louder than the Z06 exhaust and has less decel pop. I'll compare it more closely to my friends Fusion with h-pipe but they sound fairly close to me. With the flaps closed, the ZR1 x-pipe/muffler combo is QUITER than the original exhaust which is a good thing for me when on longer highway trips.

I'll get the car on the dyno later this week just for sheets and giggles, but I'm not expecting any change from the baseline.

On another note, I drove a 2011 Z06 this past weekend and had a chance to compare exhaust sound directly to my ZR1 system.

Results ? The NEW 2011 Z06 exhaust is bad a$$ !!!! If my car had this exhaust from the get go, I would have never given consideration to replacing my exhaust system. The 2011 exhaust system is LOUDER than the ZR1 mufflers, which completely suprised me. I know the new mufflers have a different part number than the ZR1 units, so if your looking for a louder OEM exhaust system the 2011 version of the Z06 might be a great choice for people who wish to stay OEM.

Several forum vendors sell the Corsa X-pipe. Just make sure you get the 3" one for the Z06/ZR1. Corsa's part number is 14173. You can also see it on their website.

The problem with spending time/money on the Corsa X pipe (or any one else's) is when you add headers it needs replacing with an X pipe from the header manufacturer to mate up with the over axle pipes.

OK...the results are in, and quite frankly, I'm suprised. Car is bone stock 06 C6 Z06 with 345/30/19 Invo's on the back. I have added the ZR1 x-pipe and mufflers to the car last weekend.
Dyno'd the car this morning at Loud Pedal Motorsports in Tempe, AZ .
We had a few issues with the dyno computer, but finally got it to behave enough to get two pulls in.

My baseline a couple weeks ago was 446.22 RWHP and 432.40 Torque...smoothing = 5
Run conditions that day at Loud Pedal was 88.16 degrees, 28.93 in-Hg, and 31% humidity.
SAE correction factor was 1.04

THis morning's run at Loud Pedal was 86.07 degrees, 28.92 in-Hg, and 34% humidity.
SAE correction was also 1.04 and smoothing set to 5.....almost spitting images for the environmental conditions, same dyno. Water temps were at 207 degrees.

FNBADAZ06 belted out 454.31 RWHP and 434.45 torque...a pickup of 8 RWHP and 2 lbs/ft torque. I wasn't expecting anything but a more agressive sound, but came out picking up a few ponies to the wheels as well.
Maybe it was because of my new Katech carbon ZR1 splitter :lol

Runfile 007 was my first baseline on 8-6-2010
Runfile 010 was today's pull with the ZR1 x-pipe and mufflers. You decide

Default B&B X pipe

After installing the Fusion bimodal system , the sound was not very acceptable in the closed position [I have the mild to wild switch] They suggested an X pipe and sent one to me. The sound was improved , but I wrapped the mufflers with exhaust wrap and it really helped to make the groan quite exceptable. I posted this suggestion last year also.

Had the X pipe made, and installed by the local muffler shop yesterday. Cost me one hour of time waiting, and $92.01. Cost of living is cheaper in Arkansas. Of course, the wages probably are, too.

Did the muffler shop weld in a preformed X-pipe such as the ones that Magnaflow offers? Any change in exhaust note from the X-pipe?
Thanks, Ernie

The shop actually made the X-pipe while I was watching. I called him earlier, and asked him about it and he said that he made them all the time....it was no sweat. I'm sure it must be a bitzz to make one, but he sure made it look easy.
After he made the X, he took about 4 bolts out and dropped the exhaust on the floor, cut out the H, and welded the X in. When he got through it looked like it was born that way.
The sound.....I can't really say. It wasn't something that was very noticable, tho. Maybe a little quieter, but just a c... hair if any. Might be different if you 'step on it', but since I wasn't at the track I would never do that.
Larry
