It's a bolt on switch out, wither with a factory unit (ZR1 or 11 Z06), or an aftermarket one, like Corsa's, which is what I did. Having a lift would make it much easier.

You can install a ZR1 X pipe and axle back muffler system on a Z06. Unless you find a ZR1 owner unloading a set, they are very expensive.

A much better way to spend your money is on a set of long tube headers. Long tube headers exit farther back than the factory cast iron manifold/cat combo, so you must also purchase a matching X pipe with your headers. This X pipe will extend to your OEM over axle muffler system. You should be able to purchase a new header/X pipe combo for $1500-1800. LG, Kooks, and American Racing Headers are the top three for a C6 Z06.

Your 'Z WILL sound as good as your dad's NPP if you install M2W....I had '09 Z51 w/NPP and had M2W andyes, it ound good....have it on my '10 'Z and my Z sounds better when on the highway or letting it stretch it's legs. Sitting idling....the NPP does sound good.

Hope this answers your question. I plan to change to it when my 'Z's exhaust needs changing or in a few years....just bought it few months back and letting the dust settle now....
if i pull the fuse for the dual mode wont it give me the same sound as the m2w. so i can see if its worth buying
