Z06's are bullet proof
Just for a change of pace from all the blew up my car, broke the diff. type posts.
My '07 has 34,000 miles and a few track days (gone through six sets of tires).
Number of dealer visits? One. That was for a new shifter due to original one having a buzzzzzzzz. Ok, I'm knocking on wood as I write this.
Normal maintenance and I've replaced brake pads and rotors a number of times.
Drive hundreds of miles to a track. Unload stuff. Run laps all day. Put stuff back in car. Drive home. Again, knocking on wood, but have done that 20+ times with only brakes and tires.

I'll second my lawdogg brother in the sentiment:
My compliments once again to the GM engineering team for the extraordinary work in fielding the C6 Z06.
Loaded with about 600 pounds of track stuff, video/audio gear, and cargo, my 2006 Z06 travelled about 1700 miles to and from Southern Maryland at an average fuel miles-per-gallon of 26.1.
There, without breakage, the bone-stock car on stock tires ran 39 passes at the drag strip, spread over three events. Best pass 11.02, seven tenths under the GM spec for the car. And trapped two passes over 129.
Once home again, another recheck of the oil level showed still negligible consumption during the entire month-long adventure.
Only maintenance needed other than adding fuel was swaps of the clutch fluid before, during, and after the drag strip sessions. Total clutch fluid used: 12 ounces, at a cost of $2.60.
Hell of a car. Don't know another manufacturer making a car at any price that can duplicate this performance. Extraordinary acceleration, great fuel economy, low maintenance, great reliability, and expansive cargo capacity.

Are you sure you didn't blow up the motor, rear end or clutch? Please check the Z over once more. We all know its only a matter of time before the motors self destruct. My '08 Z is just nappin in the garage but I'm sure it's ready to blow the motor.

The Z06 is the best overall car for the money. Our right window did not index properly, and needs the EBCM flashed. That's it.
Almost two years now since we had Katech build our E85 13:1 motor and the car has seen the track and still likes picking up the groceries in the winter. No snow. That is a death wish.

I made about 80 passes this summer (25 on drag radials) and never had a hint of issues. The car amazes me, and I sit and wait for the 06 axles to pop, but they never do! Change the fluids, maintain it, but drive it hard! It isn't made of glass like some seem to think, these things are tough and stupid fast for the money.

They are bullet proof.... picked mine up in nov. 2005. No real issues at all! 40,000+ miles, now putting out 550 RWHP, 4-5 track days per year. I'll be buying a C7Z... in a few more years... will be keeping this one for a very long time! Kids would not let me sell it anyway. Thanks GM

Best vehicle I ever owned.
Just like a fine woman, give her with a little tlc and she'll treat you well.
53k miles of smiles and every time I get into it I say to myself:
God I love this car!

You know, when I picked up my used Z last year, I had read all the "chicken little" threads about the LS7 and reliabilty to handle track time and even street abuse..but I thought to myself (as any logical person should).. the few that have blown are a fraction of the owners..and the Z06 ownership that is on this forum, only a small portion of total Z06 owners..so why worry. People tend to post only when stuff breaks or they are pissed.
I knew this was just all hype. Thanks for posting this thread. The sky is falling thing gets real old fast sometimes. Nice to see a thread like this from time to time.

One thing I've learned with any machine, there is always SOMEONE who will find a way to blow the **** out of it.
