I would need to see the Mclaren in a different color. The car has no flare, looks too simple for what its suppose to do. I think the gent from Auto Car hit the nail on the head "If it doesn't set the old ticker off then......." I think the car is an amazing car for what it can do but it definently doesn't stir the soul. If a super car you want I would suggest the 458. However you say money isn't the issue but your are very aware that you saved $75,000 over the Merc when you bought the CTSV. I would think you might have the same response with the
ZR1 when you get it, especially when your already happy with the 430. I spent some time with a Ford GT and I would consider that car before the Mclaren or 458 for a super car. Your heart has to race before you even open the door on these things, just my 2 cents.

Hmm, what would I do in this case.... I also have a 430 that I am thrilled with, so I think I would go with the McLaren. I love the Italia but the deciding factor to go with the McLaren is already owning a 430.

With being able to buy any of them is not an issue, I don't think that finding service for the Mc is neccessarily a problem. Fly a mechanic over a couple of time's a year to keep in tune.

If money is no object, sorry, the ZR1 is out (maybe). That leaves the 458 and Mcl. That means drive both, and the answer will become easy. Now on paper, I'd pick the Mcl. in black. This car needs black... The wrong color and it looks a bit mundane. I'm sure some exhaust mods would liven things up a bit as well. If you like the 458, easy, buy the 458, dump the 430, and buy a ZR1 with the extra cash...

I'd also look at a Ford GT considering your price point.

So here's your choices:

1.) Black Mcl.
2.) 458, dump the 430. Buy a ZR1 with the extra cash. 2 for 1.
3.) Ford GT.

Your welcome.

How about a Mosler MT900...........that should be able to keep up with traffic ?? And they offer a stunning interior too. Plus no service problems, relatively speaking.
I just happen to have these interior shots from a photoshoot we did.

+1 on the Mosler

1. Mosler MT900 (in place of McLauren)
2. Ford GT (in place of 458)
3. ZR1

Not sure what a Saleen S7 can be had for, but IMHO that cars blows away the Mosler.

Perhaps the newest Supercar to enter the competition?
The HTT Plethore LC 750
All C/F, 6.2 Liter Chevy 750Hp
0-60 in 2.9 3 seater, you sit in the middle like the McLeran F1 and it comes from Canada.
There is also a 1300 hp version if 750 is not enough for you.

Not sure about "blows away" but I do know they "blow up" A LOT. The one here in Calgary is on its third motor and has been on the back of a tow truck more than it has not been.

Check out the Personal Business Section of last Saturday's edition of the Wall Street Journal. It reviewed the new McClaren and compared it to the 458 Italia. The reviewer is a good judge of cars in my opinion and he favors the 458. Besides looks, he felt that the Italia had more of a visceral nature to it - more of a sports car feel to drive. To paraphrase the writer, the McClaren practically drove itself. As I read the article, it reminded me of why I traded a very fast German roadster (2009 SL63 AMG with Performance Package) for my ZR1. In fact, if interior refinement is not your most important consideration, the ZR1 is probably your car.

The newest Saleen S7 would be at least 5 years old and have little chance against the track perfected Mosler. An S7R might be another story. The McClaren, Mosler, Gumpert, Pagani, etc can be bought brand new with a warranty Unlike the Saleen and a Ford GT.
Maybe a Zonda S. is the way too go here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you'll really need to see them all first hand to make your decision. If you can even take them for a ride, that would help.

If you mean this McLaren, then by all means;

If you don't feel like spending several mil, then get the Mosler (and I am not biased one tiny bit....)

You may have already done this, but I would recommend driving the 458 before deciding against it. I thought there wasn't much to improve on the 430; boy was I wrong, it is better in every way. If you really want to get crazy go with the Challenge model.
Nothing at all wrong with a ZR1 though.

I wish I had the choice to make for myself.

If you want to drive the heck out of it on the streets, I'd say ZR1. if it's going to spend most of it's time in a garage, I'd say first drive a 458 to make sure you don't have any regrets. If more collectible, I'd go with the Mclaren, as i don't see that car being mass produced much like the previous F1

I like to get in and wrench on things. So I'd prob. with the ZR1 as I already know my way around the corvettes pretty well. if i went that route, headers, exhaust pulley and tune would be first on the list it would REALLY liven up the zr1, not that it needs it but well
