Default Purchase a 2007 Z06 vs a 2008 Z06 ??

Looking for opinions on buying a 2007 Z06 vs a 2008 Z06.
I am concerned about the needle bearing problem on the 2007 and also understand the 2008 has a different transmission.
Have found a low mileage Ron Fellows car but am concerned about the needle bearing and broken rocker problem.
All comments appreciated.

Nov 2006 to May 2007 are the suspect build dates. You may need to get in touch with the museum to find out the engine build date.

For instance: My engine was built 1 month before the car was built.

I would have no concerns about the 07. Take the best priced vehicle.

where did you get that info from? if that's the case then i need to go back and correct about 100 posts, including the sticky in the rocker arm thread, inform GM their roof recall notice is incorrect and run to change my rockers asap! my 07 (build date 12/06) has 0 issues. no roof recall, and no bad rockers. rocker issue was generally 01/07-07/07 the 07/07 engine build date was actually in a 2008 MY Z06.

to the OP: all ron fellows cars are suspected to have been built with potentially faulty rockers. not if, but when. RFZ's are nice "numbered" cars, but when you drop a valve and lunch the motor, you'll wish you spent the extra $$ on a 2010 Z06 in arctic white with a factory warranty. yes the 07's have a 5yr/100k powertrain due to expire any time now unless you extended it (GMPP) or are lucky to find an RFZ sitting in a museum still under MSO with 3 miles on it.

I believe that the bearing issue is not all that expensive to replace...
just add that into the price considerations and car conditions.

Go with the newer car. The transmission in the 08 is easier to shift and there may be some of the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty left. Then if you want you can get a GMPP Major Guard service plan. Once the 3/36 runs out you can't get the Major Guard. The 3/36 on my car runs out in two days so I purchased a 7 year Major Guard plan for about $350/year. The way I use my car I know that I will spend more than that on wheel bearings and tie rod ends over the next 4 years so it seemed like a good deal for me.

I just picked up a used 07 last year..no issues whatsoever and it has about 18k miles on it. I Love the car.

That said though, I would go with the newest you can afford which would be the 08. I just could not stretch the extra cash for the 08..as others have mentioned it has a newer Trans..you'll have more warranty left on it too. Also, the 3lZ package started in 08 as an option.

Assuming the price difference wasn't enough to sway me I'd take the '08(both great cars and I wouldn't hesitate buying an 07 at the right price). I have an '06 convertible and an '08Z and the difference in the shifting is ENORMOUS. The '06 is stiff and notchy and can feel a little vague when you're shifting hard. The '08 is silky smooth by comparison. I put a shifter in my '06 to help the feel some but I haven't bothered on the '08.

My 07Z circa 01/07 has 24K trouble free miles. With regard to the 08transmission I've driven the "improved" late model and if thats the only reason to buy a newer model it's not noticable enough to pay extra $ for it.

I asked myself the same question last year before buying my 08Z. I figured, why take the chance with an 07 and went with an 08. With an 08 at least you get rid of the wretched gray console for a CF one too. No regrets whatsoever on my part.

or buy the 07 and spend $300 on a new 08 carbon fiber console.

I looked at 07's and 08's and decided on the 07' Le Mans Blue over the Jet SISSY Blue. I was leaning on the 08' because of the trans/rack/console/rockers, but really liked the 07' blue better.

Excellent choice.

LMB is the nicest color ever offered in many peoples eyes, including mine.

I have an 07 and absolutely no issues, but the car was delivered in Oct 06 so I think I missed the needle bearing problem, and again no problems.

Oh and LMB is awesome. I love it.
