I need pictures from an actual car with all the appendages that are attached to the front lower controls arm. I need to compare something on the new Z06 Carbon front suspension.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Here ya go, Bill - I hope these will show what you're looking for!!
I didn't jack the car - I just sat the camera on the garage floor in front of the splitter looking back at the area I think you're interested in. The picture above is looking back at the left front wheel. With the splitter, they seem to have left a gap in the spoiler/air dam thingies that hang down, and then there's another piece that is bolted to the front of the lower A-arm.
The picture above is a closer look at the piece on the control arm.
I imagine that the Carbon Edition with a splitter is exactly the same as the ZR1.
Do those pictures show what you wanted to see? If not, let me know if I can take some more.

The way it's attached to the A-arm, it angles back and would actually maybe deflect stones and junk over onto the rotor. For that reason, it looks like in addition to aero effects it might have, it also might help feed cooling air over onto the rotor.
So.....I think it's aero and maybe brake cooling, but I'm looking forward to other folks' input!!!

I don't think it's to "protect" the rotor.

That is the picture I needed.
It is designed to direct more air to the brake rotor at speed.
What year is your ZR1?

My 2010 looks exactly like that. First time I saw it wasn't sure if it suppose to channel air out from underneath the car or for cooling brakes. My service guy thought it was for additional brake cooling. Maybe it is to preserve the tie rods, ball joints and bearings from excessive heat.
I think a car that goes 205mph NEEDS this kind of additions.

They are for directing air to the rotors. GM lists the parts as "front brake cooling air deflectors" in the parts catalog. They are listed the same for ZR1 as well as Z06 optioned cars.
