Thanks. They really make it look race car mean. The chromes were nice, but I'm a dark wheel guy.
They did, these were ordered over a year ago. They are back making bike wheels only.

That should have been the optional wheel for the ZR1's. Those Dymags suites the cars image and looks perfectly!

I think all the wheels are killer in here even the white ones . I really like those polished HRE and love the black chrome set. Whoever thinks black is ugly needs to step out of the past, chrome wheels are better go back to your wax/buff section.

You could talk to Steve. He is awesome/unbelievable repairs. You could probably ship the wheel to him. Otherwise, he may know someone in Houston to refer you to.

I would like to see the upcoming 2012 black wheels in person, I think I'm hooked.

Black wheels look allright if they are done right and matches well with the color of the car, but my big gripe is how can you spend big dollars on black wheels when it hides some of the looks of the wheel itself.

You won't find it in commercial publications. I saw them here on CF posted by people whose expertise I learned to value. I don't think it is available anymore from Callaway. I wonder why?
I would keep a very close eye on it and inspect it regularly for cracks.

If you Google it, you will find the same one or two posts about catastrophic failures in non-professional race events, and the rest is perpetuated internet hearsay (like what will become of this thread).
There are many race teams that use these wheels, or similar composition. I did talk to Gerry at customwheelsforless when I was trying to decide on getting these or ordering new custom modular concepts. He did have some concerns that I took into account based on his customer's experience. I also spoke with many of my fellow racers (these wheels are big in the Porsche community) who have run the same wheels without issue for years.
Ultimately, price and exclusivity won out. At the track, I may switch back to the chromes anyway, just to avoid damage to some fairly expensive wheels. Use yours in the best of health.

FWIW, that was my original post when I was trying to decide whether to pull the trigger or not. I made it because I could find no mention of these wheels and failure anywhere in the CF search engine, nor any new mention (since 2009 bikes) on the internet. Only one person responded with any information.

Arrrgggg son of a bitch I bent one if my wheels last night on a Houston pothole. The head of service at this small Chevy dealership asked me where my hood and carbon roof came from. That's frightening that he's never seen a Zr1.
I love the lugnuts. Where did you get em?

Since I don't have first hand experience with them I can't argue any points on this. I remember seeing other references, but a simple search did not find them. I don't think it is currently available so it is a mute point for most of us. I did like the look and (the lack of) weight of it.
Agreed, my point taken. You are not alone in this, and certainly not the sole topic of my post. Internet myths are perpetuated by people who don't have first hand experience, but pass on things that they "remember" they saw somewhere.
After 10 years on this forum and others, I finally couldn't sit back and let it happen this time. As for their availability, I found a brand new in the box set for half price, so obviously they are out there.
However, that is not the original point of this thread is it? Rather it is to show cars with aftermarket rims. Unfortunately, as is the norm, the thread digressed into other agendas.
I, like you said, bought them for the looks and light weight. Thankfully the world continues to revolve for all of us.
