Default What is the interest level in a 700rwhp, 50-state legal Air Attack Z06 SC?

Just throwing some ideas out there. What do you guys think about this package:
Katech Air Attack LS7 with forged crank/rods/pistons
DLC pins
Piston squirters
Supercharger
Hood/paint

It would make 700rwhp, run on pump gas, be 50-state legal, and come with a 12mo/12,000 mile warranty. All for around $24k installed. Would that be something you would be interested in?

Interested? Yes...can I afford it? No! But I sure am thinking about the Stage 2 package!

That sounds awesome but a little out of my league price wise. Is this upgrading my current engine or a new engine? Would there be a core exchange and what kind of discount would that yield if any?

That would be upgrading your existing engine.

1. It would seem like a fair price, even perhaps without knowing if it's a 2300 SC, or not - my fav of course.

2. 50 State legal is always good for us left coast souls, and good for resale in general.

I'm just sayin' for your understanding: I have a 6 month old SSB Z07, but she's too young yet for a blower. In addition, because I'm ****, I would have to revisit the enormous (for me) and agonizing decision to trash my 5-year, 100k power train warranty, because if a warranty problem arose, that would surely be the outcome. Finally, there is the geographic distance issue.

Hope that helps, and best of luck,

700rwhp forged block package is never wrong. Price I would say is fair compared to other shops. Best of luck!

may consider including car transportation into the package or for an additional fee? that would be inticing to people at a large distance to you.

I would love this package as well, but it is more than I can invest in the car, though I'm sure the price is more than fair.

However, the biggest draw for me is that it is 50 state legal.

I just wish the Stage 1 or Stage 2 packages were 50 state legal. I definitely would be all over that.

Wasn't GM's reasoning for not pursuing the LS7 for the ZR1 was that there wasn't enough block material, curious?

Would that price include the fuel delivery mods too?

Then we also have to upgrade the clutch, trans, ect. Get's pricey quickly.

That's a pretty dang good price seeing as what you are getting. If I had the spare cash laying around I might do it. I'd like that kind of HP in a DD that was built from the ground up.

Jason, that is a good deal a real good deal. I know what I have in my project, although I am shooting for more power, not CARB legal etc etc,its a lot more cash for just what I have in parts and materials. I think your package would be great.

My 2 cents worth...a clutch should really be part of the package because there's no way anyone would keep a stock clutch with 700rwhp and there'd be no labour charge to change it since the engine is already out of the car.

Cheers, Paul.

I think there were a number of reasons not just the block itself. With this Katech package they are talking about though, they are offering forged internals which would definitely help.

From all my reading and research and in talking to shops, the LS7 can handle a low level of boost just fine, but the tune must be SPOT on. ..there is no margin for error at all. I would only trust Katech or maybe ECS or A&A if I was going to put a blower on my car. They are well aware of what the LS7 can handle boost-wise.

-$1300. The hood that comes in the package is a really good deal. Of course other hoods could be had if the difference in the price was paid.

As with all of our packages, we will arrange transport for you. Because of tight margins on the project itself, it would always have to be paid in addition to the package.

Yes, GM used caution on the engineering of the ZR1 to make it durable in all conditions including the road racing that it's customers are bound to do. For a street car we feel perfectly comfortable making this kind of power with the stock block. Some of our competitors have even made this kind of power on a stock engine entirely - something we do not feel comfortable doing. We at least want to see forged pistons and a 4340 crank. We have made 1008hp on the stock LS7 block. It's all about duty cycle. If you wanted to use this package for heavy duty road race use I would recommend we upgrade to the RHS block.

Fuel system modifications to support the power level are included.

Upgrading the clutch is a good idea. I could start adding options but I tend to have the attitude of Mercedes (The Best or Nothing) and I'll just price out my dream and price it right out of the market. I wanted to show what we can do for a baseline, and allow customers to add options as they wish. Some people may already have a clutch upgrade and want to know the price of the base supercharger/engine package.

Agreed. It would be the time to do the clutch if you have not already done so. You'll save on the labor with the engine out already. The LS9R would be a perfect option for the package.

You must have missed the supercharger part? I was asking about the cost for everything EXCEPT the blower, hood and paint. I assume the hood/paint is $1300 and the blower is another cost. You are basically offering what I am planning in the near future however I dont need a hood and already have a blower.
