Default Brake pad thickness??

I have a 2010 ZR1. I have probably about 8-10 track days on the car and was looking at the pads yesterday as I was prepping the car for this weekend and the pads seemed to have more wear than I would have anticipated.

I have followed some of the threads on the forum and there seems to be more pad replacement going on than I believe we all thought originally.

Does anyone know what the thickness is on a new pad?

Thanks in advance for any info on this.

Default Found answer to pad thickness on my own

Just found the following link which indicates that the original thickness of the pads is 10mm and should be replaced when there is only 2mm left or when the "Replace Brake Pad" message is displayed on the DIC. Seems that the message is not being displayed appropriately based on other posts I have read on the forum so checking the pads is important.

I pulled mine out after seeing evidence of pad rivets contacting the rotor, which evidently isn't a problem. It appears that if the traction and stability control are not engaged too much, the pads will wear evenly enough for the pad sensors to accurately indicate when it is time to replace.

I was told at a reliable race shop that when the pads are the same thickness as the backing plate that it is time to replace. I hit that after 4 days... I'd like to think they last longer also.

Pads on carbon-ceramic discs will always wear faster for two reasons. They run hotter than they would with iron discs and the discs do not wear, so the pad is the one to sacrifice.
