"Tickled Pink" -- Tire Wear
I have always been interested in TIRE WEAR and due to early concerns with our 2007 Z06, had watched wear characteristics closely, making alignment/tire pressure adjustments as miles rolled on.
Doing the same thing with our ZR1, I just sit down this morning to take a close look at the comparisons.
To set the stage, we are in our mid 60's and enjoy cruising the mid-west highways and side roads with NO racing (drag or track) ..... very little hot rodding (please, no flamming...we enjoy the Vettes because we can .. not to impress anyone).
My data includes a lot of measured tread depth with a depth dial micrometer in inches...measured in each groove at 2 to 3 thousand mile increments.
In each car case the neg. camber was reduced from the factory delivered settings at around 7000 miles to about .4 degrees (Z06 had been around -.8 and the ZR1 was delivered at around -1.4 degrees) .. and the toe set to correct wear concerns noted at that time.
Summarizing the data at 12,xxx miles in each case shows the following average tire wear per 1000 miles.
Z06 (w OE/Goodyear Tires) => Front .007" Rear .009"
ZR1 (with OE/Michelin Tires) => Front .003" Rear .003"
Yes, there has been some "inside to outside" discrepancies but at this point the ZR1 looks very good.
Bottom line ---- Ya, I'm probably the low % in the distribution curve of users ... putting miles on in an "old mans way" .... BUT, "tickled pink" seeing the ZR1 tires will likely last as long as we own the car ... expecting to replace in the 2nd year of the C7's.

The Z06's GY Supercar tires wear fast. Its very difficult on average to get 7,000 miles out of set. Meaning they are worn down to 3/4 32nds, which is only half to a little less then half but its still almost smooth. The GY Supercars only come with 8 32nds when new which isn't much.
The PS2's wear much better and they come with 2 32nds more then the GY Supercars do.
Nice info on tire wear

Anyone else out there have any feedback?

What sold me on the Michelin ZP's was the fact Lou could get 6-7k miles on his ZR1 vs the 1500-2000 miles on his Z06's in the past.
I reached 28k miles on my set of Z06 sized Michelin PSII ZP's vs the 10k I had from the OEM GoodYears.
Hell of a good tire.

Great report, MachAll. So, the PS2 ZP is quieter, sticks better, rides better, and lasts longer than the the F1 Supercars that came on our (prior) Z06's. I like them a lot on my ZR1, and with 7K miles, sounds like they still have a long way to go.

I have 5,700 miles on my PS2's with SIX pretty aggressive track days. They are basically getting down to the wear bars, but suffice to say, I drive my ZR1 about the opposite of MachAll even around town. If there is a nice, clear gap with no traffic or a clean getaway from a stop light, I will pop down a few gears and light it up.
PS2 is a great tire. I have the new Sport Cups in the garage. I hope they last at least half as long.

After 5 track days and about 3000 miles, my Cups are pretty well worn. Granted, 3 of those days were at a very abrasive track (Reno/Fernley). Since they appear to last about half as long as the PS2s and only stick about 15% better, I'll probably go back to the PS2 until my finances improve markedly.

Good information....... thanks for sharing and the same to the OP.
It is unfortunate that a 2012 ZR1 cannot be ordered with the performance option to get the new wheels and the close ratio transmission but with the PS2 tires instead of the cup tire.
Especially if one wanted to do a museum delivery.

I am afraid to look at the ZR1 tires. My Driving style is a bit different than Dick's However at 7 K Miles they look somewhat better.

9K and the tires looks pretty fresh - not empirical by any standard, but they seem to be getting the same mileage as any standard vehicle I've owned.
