i have a 2007 zo6 that vibrates between 80-90 mph?
is this only a zr1 issue?, it seems since i put on drag radials is when i began to feel this vibration?
i am headed back to the tire shop to see if this problem can be corrected with a balance issue or next i guess i will have to check my rotors?

I have not seen anything come up on the earlier Z06s? My 04 Coupe did the same thing when I switched the tires/wheels -between 70-80 mph.

Guess I am one of the lucky ones!? Have 2010 ZR1 that I regularly take to dragstrip and road courses and have NEVER had any vibration issues. Currently have around 10000 miles on the car, with many of them hard!

Have you changed wheels/tires without regard to indexing the lugs to the wheel when removing/reinstalling?

If you are a lucky one with good rotors there is no need to index.

I guess what I'm asking is "are there any good rotors?". It would stand to reason that if you are able to change tires/wheels without indexing, you probably have a good set of rotors. The more folks who say that they are able to do so without incurring the vibration, the more the possibility that there are some good rotors. Just trying to quantify.

GM put 2 new 2012 balanced rotors on my 2011 and the vibration did not change.

I received an online questionnaire last week about my recent Chevy service relating to my vibration problem. I was very positive about my local dealership’s service department, but there was an available comment section at the end of the survey where I said that GM has a well known problem that GM is not addressing on their most expensive car. A few days later I got a call from one of their regional service specialist asking me lots of questions about my problem and said they are creating a new service ticket on my car and plan to contact the dealership. Their specialist seems genuinely concerned that there is an unfixable problem. It will be interesting to see if anything comes out of all this.

Unbalanced (or unbalancable) tires, wheels can also cause vibration. That is very common.

This complicates troubleshooting the vibration problem.

How did they verify that your front rotors are out of balance? Were the rear rotors checked also?

I got a call back today from the GM “regional specialist” who was investigating my vibration issue. She said that the GM engineer had concluded that the vibration is NORMAL for a ZR1. I asked if I could elevate the issue to a higher level and she said that the GM engineer who flew in to look at my car was as high as there was! I told her that many people with ZR1s have the problem and politely asked again if I could get the issue elevated so that this gets some attention and she said ‘sorry, no’.

They (GM Engineers) are "true geniuses" ... calling it "NORMAL"
["nor·mal/ˈnôrməl/ Adjective:Conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected] meaning they are admitting that we ALL have the problem to some degree (some have it now, others will have it later). As they don't say "NATURAL", this it progress ... now just keep on them to get us a "FIX".

Tricia has been posting the past few days while Justin is off on something else. Come On folks ... push this issue for us.

Did they show you the DATA ... What does "balanced" mean?

GM -- To avoid potential embarassing legal/civil issues, I suggest you invest in a widespread ad campaign that informs the public that a vibration is "normal" at highway speeds in your top-of-the-line, $100K+ flagship -- probably wouldn't hurt to step up before you sell any more vehicles to the poor, unsuspecting public. That should do wonders for your sales!

8900 miles on the 2011 without problems. All four ZP tires look great with this mileage compared to the SCs I had on the 06Z. Driving lots of freeway miles would have worn the tires badly also if I had that ZR1 vibration.

It might be time to raise the ante. It appears the negative press in threads like this one don't strike a chord with those in charge at GM. I would be willing to bet something more on the order of a legal process might get some results.

The efforts to quantify this problem need to be refined in order to proceed.

In regards to the RFB they started with the front tires and balanced them off of the car then installed them and started the on car balance procedure.

Perhaps a sizeable advertisement in the WSJ or automotive rag would give them a little push but I doubt it.
