Default Z06 power question

Got some questions for all you LS7 experts. Recently had a cam (g7x3 by LG ) long tube headers, x pipe with cats, cold air intake and a tune. Base line was 469rwhp and it only went up to 515rwhp and from 423tq to 466tq. It doesn't seem like a huge improvement for the money. And also the valve train got notecibly louder. It's a 2009 Z06.

Is this normal gains, and noisy valve train expected? I'm new to the LS base engine vehicles, this is why I ask. Thanks.

Sounds about right to me......!! How does it feel? Some people don't like the sound of a cam at all I hope you rode in or drove a cammed Z06 or similar before pulling the trigger on that......or you might start to despise the vehicle.

You can alway add a 100 shot for $2k installed and call it a day by far the best bang for the buck if you rarely get on it

The noise really is not bad at all. Just wanted to make sure it was normal. It definitely feels stronger than it was prior to all the work.

Don't mean to bum you out but in my opinion its on the low side, b/c the majority of C6 Zs make around 490rwhp with all your mods minus the cam, and with the cam and supporting bolt ons you should be making at least 530 to 550rwhp.

You only picked up 46rwhp from all your bolt on mods, including headers, tune and cam, and most other cammed up Zs pick up at 30 to 40 rwhp, with your same mods with a stock cam, and most cammed up LS7s with your bolt on mods and tune usually pick up about 70 to 80rwhp (and for some reason you only picked up 46rwhp). I know the G7x3 LG cam was very popular in 346 ci LS1/LS6 C5s several years ago, and have not heard of this cam being used in a 427 ci LS7 (and hopefully you didn't pick the wrong cam). If you did, you could always swap out to a proper cam and have LG retune you, and then you should be making 540 to 550 rwhp, in my opinion.

However, I would not be too bummed out about a dyno number though and take it to the track and see where she traps at. If the trap speed is not where it should be may just be that the cam selected is not ideal for an LS7 engine versues the other cam choices out there, or your tune is too conservative, but the track will be the true test if your making the power that a bolt on cammed up Z should be making.

Best of luck!

Don't get too bummed out about the dyno numbers. Take it to the track and see what speeds you run. That will be the true test.

LG did all the work on it. I asked for a middle of the road cam that was not too radical. I was told it would be around 540rwhp with the g7x3. I sent my Z with one of my customers 07 Z and we did exactly the same set up on both.his went from 450rwhp to 525 and from 406 tq to 481tq. My base line was higher but my gain was less than his, with the same set up.

I have the exact same mods you do, except I have a different cam, and I have 545 RWHP. Don't get too hung up on dyno numbers, they can very so much. Enjoy

As other's have stated, don't put too much faith in a dyno number.

On a recent dyno pull on my car, I lost 25 RWHP and 25 RWTQ just by my car going over 215*+ water temps and 86*+ in inlet air temps....all within 1 minute of a previous dyno pull.

To have a true comparison of dyno sheets, you need quite a bit of information....more than just what the dyno sheets report.
