Funny you bring this up...I have 55w 4300K fogs in my Z06 but really have not run them enough to test longevity but..I've had the same lights in two of my Escalades and have gone through likely half a dozen passenger side ballasts over the last 2-3 years...seems alway the passenger side as you mention.. I wonder of it's a power delivery thing ?
I just replaced a ballast before Christmas and so far so good but having a low confidence level in them I ordered a spare light set last time a failure occurred..
What make are you running....mine come from SharpHID..

I have the same problem on my 2007 convertible. Ballast #3 coming up on the passenger side over the course of a year. The 6000k bulb is still doing fine.

I blew two on mine. Both replaced under warranty. Pretty common I think.

Default HID fogs

I installed my HID fogs from Corvette Mods. Blew a bulb. Now the lights come on and after a few minutes they go out.Must be the relay. I just received LEDs as a replacement. Ill take out the HID and put in the LEDs.No ballast needed and no overheated wires and switches.

This is exactly what I'm thinking about doing cause my hid won't stay in either. Which ones did you get and how do they look?

I installed led bulbs in my fogs for this reason, also not wanting to blind other drivers and have my fog lights look brighter than my headlights. L.E.D. bulb technology has come a long way in the last few years. The smd led bulbs I first installed in my car 5 years ago don't even come close to the bulbs that are out now and you don't have to worry about blown ballasts, melting harness pigtails or possibly melting the housing.

Ive had both HIDs and LED fogs light in different cars. The LEDs I've come across don't last too long. The vette mods HID kit has a lifetime warranty on the ballast and the bulbs. I'd rather climb under there and send it back for a free replacement then tossing LED bulbs out every few months and buying new ones.
