[Z06] Anyone Else pissed off by the 2013 427 Convertible Announcement
#162
Interesting thread revival.......I was not a forum member or Corvette owner when this debate was raging and I had no idea that one more variation could cause so much angst??
Months later I wonder how fears/feelings/opinions may have changed?
For what it's worth, I bought the car simply to enjoy it. I love how it sounds, handles, accelerates, and most of all loses the roof with a push of a button. The LS7 sealed the deal for me and with the warranty set for 5 years I lose no sleep over valve guide issues. Although I have been an HPDE junkie over the past few years(with a Benz of all things) I had no more desire to push expensive hardware around the track anymore. That made passing on a Z06 easy for my particular situation. I don't see how the 427 comprimises the Z06 in any way.... to me it is the ultimate compliment allowing a remarkable car to be transformed into an open air variation at the expense of reasonable performance concessions. Everybody wins in this case

I wish they would put the. 427 in every
Car GM produced, maybe then when 6% of them dropped valves it would be on the evening news and a recall would be issued
I own two corvettes (like many vette owners) but am looking to move away from GM. There is higher quality and better customer service available elsewhere at them moment.

There are lots of rules on this forum and one I was "reminded of" by a moderator was the 45 day rule -
If an existing thread has not received a reply for a period of 45 days or more, members should create a new thread which is identical or similar in nature, rather than to post to the existing one.

Drop top!!!! I owned a 08 GT500 vert that layed down 695 RWHP with a full race suspension. It was a bear. I was going to sell it and buy a 2013 GT500, vert, 650 crank HP. I had 2 other Vettes, a 68 vert and a 73 vert. Neither a big block. I always wanted a 427 since I sat in one in 1969, but I couldn't afford one. Now I can, so I bought a 2013 427 drop top. I love it...
Collectable, smectable, I bought it because I could not get a Z06 or ZR1 with a drop top....period.

Who cares. In 50 years you'll be dead and wont know which ones are the collectables anyways. As long as you like what you got anyhow. My opionion for collectables for the c6z06. I think the 2006z06 will be the highest collectable simply just because its the lightest and the fastest out of all the z06 na but thats me. Ever notice the old 427 corvettes. People want the fastest car at that time even if its 1 hp more i would.

As an owner of a couple 427 Corvette's I have to tell you I'm a bit irritated by the recent GM announcement of the 2013 427 convertible. GM Marketing has been pushing what they claim to be unique limited production cars at a premium price just to make a similar combination available one-two years later. For example:
- 2007 Ron Fellows Z06 in white- three years later the Z06 std colors included white
- 2008 Wil Cooksey 427 Z06 in Crystal Red - two years later the Z06 std colors included Crystal red
- All c6 Z06’s - The introduction of Grand Sport body with ZR1 and Z06 body appeal.
Now we get the 2013 427 Convertible. I love my 68 427 Convertible three duce car and my 427 Will Cooksey Z06 but I have to tell you I’m getting sick & tied of GM doing this stuff to loyal corvette owners. This is the stuff that will drive me toward another manufacture for my next car or truck purchase. Anyone else pissed off about GM undercutting previous customers.

Nah. I damn near traded my Z06 for one a few years ago because I wanted a convertible. Now I am just going to keep it and do a targa conversion later down the road. Didn't want the grief at the track and didn't want to have to weld in a roll bar. Wife's Solstice GXP will just have to suffice for top-down days.
