I can shed some light on this, I work for a pretty unique app development company.
The iPad "sucks" compared to the opensource and capability of the Android device. The Android system can do "more" and you can utilize the hardware in ways that Apple would not consider kosher.
Both products are good, just depends on what you want to do with it.
If I wanted to hack an Android device and install HP tuners live on it, I could and I most likely could do this with the Apple product but it wouldn't be the same path.
I'll keep everyone posted, this whole install thing is way easy easy.

This is insane. I might actually do this if I could find an app to control the hvac and heated seat controls. This needs to be in the C7, with one ****/button for easy volume access.

I've used every tablet that has hit the market so far...and none can touch the stability and speed of an iPad 2. Open source is cool....maybe one day they can get it to run more stable for more than 60 seconds with some new ice cream related operating system.
As to the post....this is awesome !! I've been running the Dashboss wireless OBD II dongle for months now displaying engine info to a iPod touch. Looks like I need to do this

I'm also guessing this OBDII port could be used for any app capable of communicating with a car?
What brand is it? I NEED IT and YOU NEED the iPad installed!

Indeed...and it actually relays info over a Bluetooth signal so it's even more stable then some of the other wireless options. I've spoken with the owner on several occasions and he even adapted the MAP sensor reading so I could monitor boost.

You can stretch the iPod app for the iPad resolution but it looks like caca

Once HVAC and heated seats and things can be programmed into the ipad, that would be slick. It would be very much like the new tesla coming out next year.

I spoke with the HP tuners guys at SEMA year before last about a link to iPhone/iPad and it's not on their radar, at least it wasn't then.
But Palmer Performance makes some cool iPhone/iPad products that you might be interested in!
Great mod. Thanks for sharing this.

lol, your post tells me how educated you are in racing technology. My Z is a track car, look up the Cobra Sebring Technology:
Yeah, it has some ugly logos but nothing a black marker can't fix lol. This seat is over 2k BTW... so yeah, I will be faster and less furious now that I'm not sliding around in my crappy Corvette stock seat

Back when I had my iPad jailbroken there was an app to go hi-res on doubled apps, it worked great. That was the only app that was worth jail breaking my iPad for. Now that you can jailbreak 5.0.1 again I need to get that app back.

Last time I spoke with the owner/developer I brought the same thing up....as I understand it's already complete and he was just gauging interest.

Id be careful. A lot of jailbroken/cydia apps need to be updated to the newest version (ios5 in this case). If you install an outdated version it could mess up your ipad forcing a restore in itunes if you cant uninstall it.

Why would you not release something that is complete? There is no marketing or publishing efforts needed in the App store...

You do need outside marketing efforts though :-)
