It needs some more tuning and it will drive great. What you describe is nothing like my 231/247.

I guess I could try some more tuning because I really wouldnt want to throw anymore $ at it. another thing, could the compression ratio (12.1:1) be making it more difficult to tune?

my heads are milled also and still not the same problems you describe. I honestly feel I could have gone one step up in cams and still had good drivabilty.

It's stories like these that kill my desire to cam my Z. I absolutely love the sound of a cammed Z06 but I wouldn't want to sacrifice driveability for it. You picked a cam that should drive well but doesn't. And had (from what I gather) a reputable tuner install it. I wasn't even aware they could "tuner lock" their work. Wow. I hope you get everything squared away bro. Keep us posted.

Have the OE tuner unlock it and have him/her try one more time (on his/her dime not yours). If it is still not within your liking the OE tuner should keep the PCM unlocked (and/or put the stock tune back in) for you to go elsewhere to get this tuned right.

The way I see it, it's your car and PCM not theirs. You pay them money for YOUR car and PCM to be tuned they have no right to lock it or prevent you from making changes down the road elsewhere if you wish ALA you don't mess things up and try to blame the first guy. There has to be some kind of accountability here on your part and the tuner. You shouldn't blame the OE tuner if you went somewhere and messed up the tune with someone else.

Good luck I hope you get this fixed and keep the thread informed as to how it turns out.

Tony

Agree my ENFORCER cam is a little larger and except for some healthy lope at idle no issues. My wife drives it sometimes too when I let her

The guys at Lethal top notch best of luck OP.

Ryne, you're at the top of my list of shops I'm considering, along with Katech and Lingenfelter. I've heard nothing but great things about your work. I have yet to drop into your shop. Still undecided both on shop and whether to go cammed or FI. Were it not for CARB I wouldn't even consider FI. It'd be heads/cam with some cat-less long-tubes. To wake the neighbors every time I fired that bad boy up lol!!

Thanks for your time Saturday Shawn, I never drove a car with a cam this large, I just wanted to make sure I wasnt expecting too much from this cam.

Thanks Again,

Im sure he could come up with a nice Heads Cam Package for you that will pass the sniffer lots of CA shops do that. But headers you'd have to use cats but only if you know a place that will overlook the visual aspect otherwise leave the stock manifolds. Oh and the FAST 102 is now CARB Legal so you can throw that on a H/C Package to add a few extra HP

Yea, I was thinking of adding the Fast/NW tb along with the heads/cam package. I'll probably have the Fast sanded/painted so it looks stock anyways. I hate the look of that thing lol. But I would love to have longtubes. I'd have to go with a B&B catless longtubes since I have the Akra x-pipe.

Ya I'd get ARH or Kooks personally but ya that would be a nice setup altogether. Ya the fast is a hate it or love it thing on how it looks lol

If ARH made headers that bolted directly to my Akra x-pipe I'd get those for sure. But from what I've read the B&B's are the only longtubes that'll work.

Reading back on this thread I'm so glad I picked CMS for my head/cam install. I have a similar cam and mine drives great, nothing like what the OP describes. OP, did you ever get the bucking sorted out?

And to the forum *****, sorry for resurrecting an old thead.

I have the same duration comp cam from CMS in my Z and couldn't be happier. I daily drive the vette in Los Angeles traffic and my Fiance also drives it. Have Ryne tune it and you will be very happy with the results .
