Default Austin Tire Installation?

I'm not asking about where to buy the tires but where's the safest place to get them installed? I've heard too many stories of scraped up wheels... Discount Tire? Soulspeed maybe?

Discount almost always does a great job. Just make sure you help them jack the car up, bring your own pucks.

I agree. Personal experience with Bee Caves store they are squared away for Corvette wheels and tires.

+1 for the lakeway discount tire store at 71W and bee caves. that's the only place i go. I know Mike the manager. tell him you know me from corvette forum and he'll take care of you. they use the auto 34 machine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX43c-gBamk

Default Soulspeed is the best

Used them many times. They are perfectionists.Discount tire is a slop shop IMO.

Auto Stoppe on Burnet and like 40ish. They always do a great job for me. They mounted up my ADV1's a while back and at least 15 other sets for me including the 26" on my Hummer.

SW used to send me there when his dealership was on Hancock.

Rucker, right at the light at Hudson Bend road...

That reminds me, I need to call them to set up an alignment.

Thanks for the responses guys. I use Discount Tire in Bee Caves for the other vehicles so maybe my fears were unwarranted. No worries on jacking the car up... I usually just bring the wheels in to limit the damage anyone can do.

Discount Tire at Braker and Burnet. They have the Hunter high speed tire balancer (all Discount chains I think) and I've never had a problem there. I've also used the Discount Tire on 1431 and Parmer without any problems.

Airbus, Tiger and Mark-who at the Bee Caves did your install? Did some digging and they have the best tire changer in Austin, but you need a compitent installer!

BTW, Soulspeed is closing! The other reason I did not chose them is they have a very old balancer and Bee Caves Discount Tire has road force balancing.

I took my '08 for some new PS2's several days ago after seeing some great info on them and their machine. Great bunch of guys although they did end up adding a new dent & chip on one of my wheels (to add to the many that Firestone added a while back). They used the Auto 34 and we don't think the machine did it. Looks like somebody dropped a socket on it or something. Anyhow, they offered to have it refinished but I just ended up asking for a small refund and they had no issue with that. Take your own pucks as they don't have any!! I'll probably go back next time as they are better than other shops I've dealt with.

im seeing some good sound advice here coming from our fellow vette owners, very cool guys! sounds like a few of you agree on same place that does nice work. this is one of those jobs that absolutely needs to go right. this topic is brought up way too many times after somebodys car/wheels are effed up, then its all over but the crying......

I have used DT for many years on many cars including both Vettes. Not a single negative experience so far.
They always ask me to dive them in and out of the bay. They have always jacked up my Vettes and not used the lift.
I have also been able to negotiate the tire prices based on quotes from COSTCO and elsewhere.
